| horse01-09-04, 01:44 PM | i need a background for a level 5 lawful good monk. i'm thinking of going into tattooed monk as a prestige class, so maybe i could work that in. something like a family heritage of tattooed monks. i'm also going with unarmed combat as my primary way of fighting, but using certain monk weapons as 'tools'. for example, using a sai for disarming, bolas for tripping, etc... by the way of tattooed monk, i'm also thinking about making a 'family tattoo'. in case there are some people who are unfamiliar with the tattooed monk, it's a PrC which gets a new tattoo every other level. there's a good list of existing tattos, each of which has its own special ability. one lets you breath fire a certain # of times per day, another lets you increase your dexterity, another lets you do some minor healing, etc... i was thinking of designing a special tattoo that's been passed down in the generations of my character's family. i know i need to talk to my DM about it first, but i'm pretty sure he'll let me do it. if anybody has any ideas on what the ability of the family tattoo could be, please share. thanks for reading this, i realize it's kinda long. any help you can offer would be great. |

Perhaps he was royalty or belonged to a famous family of warrior monks. But thats just the lazy way to make a great backround. |
| horse01-09-04, 03:56 PM | ooh...ideas come to mind... i could have the family tattoo activate every time he enters combat & increase his strength. although, simply increasing strength is kinda boring, plus i think there's a tattoo for that already. as a matter of fact, i think there's a tattoo for each stat. maybe it could give him something along the lines of 'improved critical - unarmed strike'. again, though, kinda boring. thanks for the help. i'm sure that within the next 24 hours, the idea will take root in my brain & sprout a bunch of new ideas. that's generally the way i think; by not thinking about it. i kinda like the memory loss thing, too. however, should i still come up with a background & then roleplay the character as if he doesn't know it? |
