| Fithero08-27-05, 03:57 AM | Kihel stared at the ground as he wandered aimlessly throught the ancient oak forest, its beauty lost on him as his mind fumbled with the past. "What did i do?" He asked alound as he walked. Slowly Kihel came to the banks of a wide river and without looking for a bridge, he waded in. Barely noticing and not at all bothered by the freezing waters, he continued to march onward. As the waters reached up over his waist and the pull of the current became stronger he began to loose his footing on the rocks below, and he was dragged under. Kihel didnt bother to fight the current as he was tossed around in the water like a childs toy, his mind grappling with the same questions as they always did. "Why did you leave me Calaro?" The turbulent waters of the river slammed him against its stone covered floor. Kihel's mind whirled from the impact as dark blotches clouded his vision, the air inside his lungs was fading quickly. The chill of the water and lack of air was beginning to take its toll as limbs went numb. The chill he felt on the outside was nothing compared to the chill of the empty void inside him. The waters dragged him to the bottom and slammed him once more before bringing him to the surface. As his body broke the surface of the river he instinctively gasped for air. The currents dragged him across towards the other side of the river and he slid up onto the mudddy banks. He lay there for several minutes without moving, barely comprehending what had happened. He squeezed his eyes shut and embraced the freezing cold that numbed his entire body. "Curse my luck, im still alive." He muttered as he lay there. From behind him he heard the crunching of leaves as something approached, a deep grunting voice spoke. "You aint out of the woods yet elf. You in for a world of hurt yet." The voice spoke out right above him, yet Kihel's eyes remained closed. He felt a hot gust of breath on his face as he cocked his head to the side. "You think you know pain? You think you know Sorrow?" Kihel opened his eyes suddenly and glared at the orc that stood above him. "You dont know anything" He cried as the orc raised its blade over its head. Kihel's body tensed as an amber mist rose out of him and surrounded the orc, the orcs muscles sagged and his posture stooped. The orc staggered backwards as Kihel leaped to his feet and drew his blade, the orc regained its footing in time to see the sword pierce its chest. It attempted to stammer a few words but all that flowed from its mouth was bubbled blood, the orc dropped dead to the forest floor. "How can you know pain, when you have never known love, and had it taken away?" Kihel didnt even bother wiping away the blood before he put it back in its scabbard. Kihel stepped over the orc then continued to wander the forest, as his mind taunted him with images of his lost love. Ok so that is a short story of my new character. A elven hexblade. What do you all think? |
| Fithero08-27-05, 08:14 PM | Physical Description: Kihel stands at 5,6ft while his rough, dry skin has a tone that is quickly loosing its colour. Its evident that his hair was once deep black but now it is more of a weak grey and is no longer kept neat. Just as with his hair, his eyes were once emerald green but are now just a shade of their former glory. Dark, heavy bags sit under his eyes, which always seem to be half closed. Personality: Kihel had met the love of his life at an early age and he knew peace for many decades, that is until she ran away with a human that had come to their home late one night. Since that night he has been shell of his former self, apathetic and uncaring about the plight of others, he is too wrapped up in his own sorrow to feel, or even notice the pains of others. He spends his days drifting along aimlessly, trying to sort through the events that occoured the night his life ended. Though not suicidal, he no longer cares if he lives or dies, often fearlessly walking into situations that any rational man would avoid at all costs. Nothing seems to be able to bring him out of his own tormented world, although events that bring back memories of his former life tend to envoke a violent reaction within him, and he lashes out. Ok, basically this is an elf who no longer sees purpose in living, but is to wrapped up in torment and self pity to do anything about it. A human enchanter actually charmed his wife and ran off into the night. Thinking the love of his life had run away freely, Kihel was filled with such grief and loneliness that he became a hexblade, the hollow space inside his heart fueling his curses. He will be true neutral, but will be played as more of an anti hero than anything else. If he sees any sort of injustice he will intervine, although not to help the victum, more to see if he can get himself killed (go down fighting). Often his tactics are overly brutal and he has no remorse for the people he kills, nor does he have time to accept the thanks or praise of those he helps. Well thats a bit more info on him, it was a bit stupid to just throw up a short story with no information on what the character is. Later. |
| TheMightyMcClaw08-27-05, 11:40 PM | I had a very similar character... he was a woodsman who went a bit looney after monsters killed his girlfriend. Although... since your character's lover ran off with a human, couldn't he just find her, wait for the human to die of old age, then pick up where they left off? |
| Zephyrus/Sonet08-28-05, 12:27 AM | I believe the Elf thinks his lover abandoned him. So he would'nt just go try and find her, it'd never be the same. I think the characters cool. :) |
| Fithero08-28-05, 12:51 AM | Zephyrus/Sonet hit the nail on the head. He mistakenly thinks that his wife ran off with the human under her own free will, which to him means that she probably doesnt even want to see him. Anyway, she ripped his heart out, if he ever did find her, im sure tempers would be flaring. Thanks for the compliment by the way, i too think that he is cool. Just so much can be done with him. |
| Chandaroon08-28-05, 10:54 AM | As I was reading your post I was thinking that the wife had a spell cast on her. Then I came to the part in which you state that that is what happened. Wow! There was the mention theat tempers would be flaring if they ever met up again. I offer this as a parrallel story line. The wife was basically kid napped and placed into a life of slavery. The Human that kidnapped her was actually part of a group of slave traders. These slave traders travel the country side looking for all kinds of people to take. This particular woman was chosen because the slave trader was so attracted to her beauty, and he knew that she would be good for breeding. He viewed her as nothing more than cattle. Now eventually Khiel will cross their path. He'll either hear someone mention her name or the Humans name. This could lead him in their direction. When he comes across her regardless of what fate you chose for her (death, disability, etc..) Khiel will blame himself for what has happened to her. This could send him off on another tangent. Just a coule of Ideas for the great character that you have created. I hope that your DM is on track for you and your character. |
| Fithero08-28-05, 11:38 AM | Wow....that is an awsome alternative, i really like it. The fact that even thoug he could do nothing about it, he would still blame himself for any injury that she suffered during their time apart. This guy seems to be self loathing and tormented by his (apparent?) failing to keep his wife. After all is said and done, even if he is a lvl 20 hexblade who has traveled to hades and back, he will still love her. The thing is though...its highly unlikely that he will be anything like the person he was before she was taken....that could actually be a good point. Maybe if the do meet up later on, his torment has changed him so much that she doesnt even recognise him, thus adding to his pain. This character keeps getting better and better, im going to have to write a story on this guy. Im so glad i popped him up on the Character development board :P |
| Fithero08-30-05, 05:30 AM | This is the character info on him Race: Elf Age: 98 (i dont use the whole "we do nothing for 100 years" idea, seems stupid to me) Sex: Male Str:15 Dex:19 Con:14 Int:13 Wis:12 Cha:17 Skills Perfrom (Poetry): 2 (before all of this, he was to be a poet) Survival: 1 Listen: 1 Search: 1 Spot: 1 Feat = Great Fortitude Wears Leather Armor (over a travelers outfit) and carries a longsword, nothing else. He survives by what he can hunt, if he cant find anything, he goes hungry....this guy really wants to die. Any more comments? |
| gregm08-31-05, 06:13 PM | I think he is a great character with a good story. Whats more is that you have chosen a class that is believed to be underpowered by many people purely because it suits your characters story. This is the correct way round in my opinion. People should not choose the most powerful combo of classes they can get away with and then fit a story around it. What makes it better still is that you have used some of your very limited skill points on something that is not key to helping your character mechanically and have also chosen a mediocre feat that (i believe) isn't even the start of a tree, just because it fits into the background of your character being able to survive when normally people would have died. Your character is truely DND at it's finest. I only wish I could create one in a similar fashion. One day I might. Congratualtions to you. |
| Trydan09-01-05, 03:37 AM | Yep... I like that intro' story. It really gives a good feel for the characters introspection and preoccupation with his own problems, while at the same time maintaining his prowess as a combatant (even if that seems secondary to him). Nice! |
