I need a little help with flushing out my character. He is a level 3 sorceror and will be taking the Dragon Disciple prestige class. I know of the requirements but I was kind of hoping to come up with some sort of story on how/why he pursues the class. I can always try the dragon-blooded story with him having flashes/visions of insight but was wondering on how I could go about it. Dreams are a no-go. (A little played out if you ask me) A friend told me that those who take the class have to go through rituals given to them by a dragon.
I was thinking about having the story start out with him having strange feelings. He decides to investigate and finds himself at a wizard’s library going through all the books. Eventually he comes to find a book about dragons and disciples of those dragons. From there on I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
I know its a little dry, so I was hoping for a few replies. Any kind of help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I agree that dreams of flying and dragon type stuff are done on a regular basis but thats because they are a solid method introducing your dragon heritage. Off topic for a sec it is good to see that you are not playing a character that has not taken sorcerer 1 just to get into the class. anyway I'll hop off my soap box and get into the good stuff.

I don't know what your spell selection is but perhaps that your character (you) has started to notice that whenever you cast spells that might have something to do with dragons eg. Burning hands, lightening bolt, fly etc you get small scales form on your hands, arms or face. They concerned you at first but soon fell off after a day or two of not casting spells. the scales did not dissaude you from casting spells for very long and there was something that felt right about what was happening. Thus it was that you began to research in earnest to find out what was happening to you.

In your search you found a tiny peice of information that sent you to a distant library that just happened to be in the domain of a venerable silver dragon who had purposefully hidden clues for those who were looking for information on dragon disciples so that he would be able to aid those who were worthy and dissuade (and somethimes eat) those who were not. Seeing that you were good and your intetions true he supplied you with the information you needed to continue with your transformation.

Hope this helps

Wow! That's a real good one Harrow Blade. I would have never thought of that. *starts jotting down on a notepad* Thanks for the idea Harrow!

More thought on a good story are still welcomed!

If your "inner dragon" is more chaotic (copper, brass, red, black or white), you could experiment a fit of rage from times to times. And if you want to tame this "inner beast", you have to undergo some obscure ritual. However, the more you progress in those rituals, the more invading this inner beast become...
