I'm going for a 4(ish) page long name as a item creationist/tinkerer gnome. For the effect, he carries a scroll around and every time someone asks his name he pulls it out and begins reading it.

Unfortunately, I've never played a gnome and I'm absolutely terrible at coming up with names (it took me 10 minutes to decide on my name for a monk I'm playing).

So, everyone throw in one name and I'll mash it all together and see how long it can get :D.

that's a bit too much, 5 or 6 words are enough

Lobo rasslossy wacknokus wallacki whirlgig tinkins [even that's too long by normal standards]

If you do as you say
Eventually people will call him "gnome with a 4 page name"
Like Hey "gnome with a 4page name", come here
So much for your carefully constructed name :P

Four pages is a bit exessive, but something that takes just a little longer than one breath might be fun, provided you have a shortform you use all the time.

Evil King: "If I am to be killed, I would know the name of my attackers."
Gnome: "Tinkle yon Blinky--"
Party Face: *Kick in the shins* "We don't have time for this, Tinkle!"
Tinkle: *Grumbles* "I hate it when you call me that."

If you are sure that your fellow players and DM will not beat you senseless for using a Monty Python quote, try the name given here (http://www.ibras.dk/montypython/episode06.htm#2). It starts with "Johann" and ends with "of Ulm".

If you are willing to push the theme to insane levels, make sure that your gnome has a few ranks in Perform: German Baroque Music.

just set it up so that it has alot of silent vowels and such. His name could be, like, Bill but it could be a page long and just have alot of silent letters and sylables

In dragonlance the Gnome names were pages long and some names were bound in books. But in all honesty they had a first name and a family name and then there whole last name was an accounting of everything they accomplished in their lives so it got longer over time. So I would worry about only your first and family name and then write your full last name as you adventure with the things you have accomplished and the inventions you have made.
