| Mirikon07-05-05, 04:51 PM | Ok, so the DM in a campaign I'm starting (ECL 5) is allowing me to play a wyrmling white dragon, as per draconomicon rules. The thing, though, is that I need help with the backstory for the critter. If it helps, I'm split between going Rogue or Warlock with him. Male Wyrmling White dragon named Mirikon Icingbreath. Any help and/or tips on playing a dragon would be appreciated. |
| obrysii07-05-05, 05:34 PM | What's his alignment and age? As in...2 months old...six months old, what? |
| Boarfury07-05-05, 06:08 PM | Long ago in the land of Nameofplace, there was a very powerful white wyrm named Yodragosdaddysnam who sent his dragon babies out into the world so that they can become powerful so that he can eat them and become the next tiamet or something. |
| Purpledragonfire07-05-05, 09:15 PM | I'd go simply with greed and impatience. The little fellow want to start his horde and doesnt want to wait until hes big enough to raid caravans/aquire it himself so has an idea..... join one of these treasure hungry bands of adventurers and start aquiring the treasure whist gaining power relativly early threw items/class levels. to add spice perhaps he can be competing with a sibling or siblings or even determined to return and claim his mothers horde (Im assuming your evil?). Will you be advancing in age catagories as well as level? also look to the dracomonicon its a dragons best friend :) some nice classes Will probly go more in depth when i know your alignment and wheter you're going to advance in age catagories |
| obrysii07-05-05, 10:21 PM | You mean "hoard" right? He wanted to begin collecting gold? Or did you really mean "horde", as in gathering an invading army? A White Wyrmling could have the same sort of background story that a Half-Orc from an Orc tribe would have: trying to change his place in the world for the better of himself. |
| Purpledragonfire07-06-05, 04:45 AM | ummm both yeah both!! i meant both!! lol no my bad i meant hoard i should attach in my sig: I type quickly and am in no way responsible or liable for the amusing/abusive and downright absurd statements made due to poor spelling |
| Mirikon07-06-05, 08:41 PM | Thanks for all the replies, folks! And yes, I'm gonna be CE. Putting the dragon's age at 1 year, so I think the impatient/greedy thing will do nicely. Thank you, purpledragonfire. |
| letsbefrank07-18-05, 12:13 PM | well white dragons are think as **** so just make sure the back story is incredibly simple because it isn't going to be able to have a decent idea for about 200 years. |
| Mist of Shadows07-20-05, 11:11 PM | Not true it just depends on where you put your points and average iq is 100 that's about int of 10. It's not too hard to get that with the white dragon. So they can think just fine. |
| derfenrirwolv07-31-05, 09:49 AM | well lets see, there's always the standard "was captured and sold to party member" routine to explain why the character is wherever they are. At one year your char. was probably one of those eggs left out to fend for itself and some adventurer picked it up. If your character was missing a family at birth, he might try to "adopt" the party as a pseudo family. Just because you're evil doesn't mean you don't want to have freinds, or that you can't like some people. What is the alignment of the rest of the party? Hmmm.. your dragon was taken in by a tribe of humans who raised you like a god and gave you food and treasure to appease you. Some people came along and killed them and stole your treasure.. you want revenge and your stuff back. Your dragon has heard tales of what dragons do from a humans point of veiw.. and think its how he's supposed to act. he wants treasure because he was told dragons collect it, is inclined to try to eat whole cows, and may even try to kidnap a princess or two. (mind you the stories are a little vauge on what exactly dragons DO with those princeses... but being chaotic he can kidnap now and figure that part out latter) |
| Need_A_Life08-01-05, 06:59 AM | I am so doing the "stupid dragon studies folklore for information of dragons so that he might seem cool"-thing... Mix that with impatient and you've got yourself a party! |
