need a character name [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-21-06, 07:55 AM I tried to make a good character name, and it sucked, and then i tried a random name generator, and that sucked, so could someone help me think up a good name for a first lvl female cleric who is from a northern scandinavian type place. She wasn't born in the scandinavian place, but was adopted by a cleric up there who worshipped Gyfla, a deity my friend and i created, who is the goddess of fire, trickery, and luck, well, those are her domains. So if anyone has any good names, i'd like to see them.

02-21-06, 02:53 PM For first names try: Ronja, Oda, Hildur, Frida, Huldra, Freja, Sigrid, Ingrid, Ingfrid, Alva, Elfhild or Ragna.

For last names consider taking the name of her father and ad sdotter/sdottir at the end. Like Ormsdotter or Eiriksdottir. Litterally it means Orms daughter or Eiriks daughter. Or you could use something that is connected with her abilities or personality. Like: Raude (the red) Brenna (the burner) Prest (priest) Luva (the flametounge, if you strech it a bit)

If you have a specific meaning in mind for a name, tell me, and I'll try to translate it.

(Note that this is nither correct or consistent Norse or Scandinavian. I just happen to be Scandinavian and chose some names that have a "farytale" ring to them in my mind.)

02-21-06, 05:59 PM I'm having problems coming up with a name for a Whisper Gnome Rogue/Shadowdancer/Teflemmar Shadowlord I am currently building. She started at level 1, and couldn't decide on a name then, so I just nicknamed her Shadow... She's now level 12, and I still haven't come up with one. :eek:

I play her very anti-social and self dependant, not wanting to "make a name", or draw any kind of attention to herself.

Being power hungry, you could probably do about the opposite. Maybe everyone who asks his name, he demands that they call him "the Master" or something?? At least until your char becomes more well-known, and/or you actually think of a name! :D
