Dm is running a 15th-level pvp challenge restricted to melee classes with a few prizes. I already have my character made and all that, but I like to put a little joke here and there in my characters (pretty-boy blonde gish that has his greatsword chromed so he can fix his hair after battle, stuff like that).

In this case, I'm planning a 15th-level, max-strength half-orc that is centered around sundering with a +3 adamantine weapon (can't decide on glaive or greatsword yet). One thing I *am* certain of, though, is that I want a phrase on the sword, specifically one in draconic up the handle. The character doesn't actually *know* any draconic except for that one phrase (he looked it up). The phrase is:

"Yo momma said"

the joke is, this being on the hilt, the blade is the actual adverb in this sentence.

So Bilarg the dumbass half-orc says, as he swings his sword:

Yo momma said *thwack*
Yo momma said *thwack*!
Yo momma said *THWACK*!!!!

and yet never says a word.

so, how do you say, in draconic, "yo momma said." Help me make a funny.

Well, according to the Draconomicon, "your" would be the prefix "ariwux-". Unfortunately, it doesn't give a word for "mother". For deriving a word, I'd suggest starting with Latin, since several of the sample Draconic words look similar to Latin.

"Said" is a bit more complicated. First off, the table and example phrases disagree. In one of the example phrases, the word "says" corresponds to the Draconic word "ner". However, the table identifies "ner" as the word for "spear", while the Draconic word "renthisj" is listed for "speak". If we're to use the primary source rules listed in the Core errata files, the example text is accurate and the table is in error. Meanwhile, I can't find any rules for conjugating a Draconic verb for past tense, something that ought to be a major concern for creatures that commonly live for over a thousand years. Judging by the example phrases, dragons might not conjugate for tense at all, however, rendering "says", "said", and "will say" the same word.

Ariwux-matryx renthisj *thwack*.

Using Ariwux- and renthisj, as well as a modification of "mater" for mother but changing it to matryx because of the draconic fetish for ryx words from what I've seen.

Either that or use "aesthyr," Draconic for "woman", in place of matryx.
