I have a character that is a female humanoid sorceress, she is 15 years old and she is an artificial life form. I want some suggestions for a possible familiar for this character. If possible name a couple of original familiar concepts. Thank you.

To help you better, I think I'll need more info. A humanoid aftificial lifeform? Is she a warforged, or something else? And what level is she, and are you considering the Improved Familar? Also, what about her personality or ambitions?

I'm going to assume she's a warforged or some form of construct. If you can go off a Pinocchio concept and have your familar act like a conscience or it's connection to humanity. A cricket ot tiny-sized vermin would be ideal, maybe a raven (since it can speak, and act as a conscience), and a cat fits for some reason.

If you take Improved Familar, you can take more construct like familars. Maybe a shocker lizard or those nifty construct familars in Complete Warrior.

Well I love cats for the purpose of familiars..... combine with Suggestion and you can have a spy ("This cat is really cute, I suggest you try to buy it from me") somewhere, and then tell it to escape later...

anyway, we need info!

Birds are good familiars too. Ravens are able to speak 1 language, which can make them wonderful scouts and messengers.

If you haven't checked Tomb & Blood for more familiars, do so.

you're forgetting the real reason you should have a cat for a familiar:

It would be nice to know what kind of artificial life form, but if you want originality go with a skunk, especially if your cha doesn't have a sense of smell.

A duck is not something you see everyday, there is always a monkey, you can't go wrong with a monkey.

What are you looking for from your familiar? Something useful in a variety of situations or something more specific. Personally I like the monkey because it is already highly intelligent(for an animal) and can learn tasks on top of being a familiar. A mous or snake can get into almost anything.

Bugs are great flavor. I had a wizard once that had a tarantula named Stubby as a familiar and lets just say the practical jokes were endless. Or you could use fomething like a flea that is virtually undetectable. A ranger I had in 2ed had a monkey as an animal companion and he taught it to do laundry and dishes.

It all depends on where you see your character going and how you envision her. If you like any of my suggestions feel free,if you decide you want a warthog go for it.
