| stuporhero9302-22-07, 02:19 PM | OK so in my campiagn, I made an NPC Hobgoblin Rogue lvl10. He is hired to stalk and kill the PC's initially. He may be turned to their side eventually, so I need a backstory. How did he become an assain for hire? Where did he learn his Rogue skills?, etc. |
| Chrono Nexus02-22-07, 02:38 PM | He was raised in a very religious home, with a loving mother and father. He is the youngest of three children, and he attended a high-class college for many years before he graduated his art major. That is, the art of killing! |
| stuporhero9302-23-07, 12:26 PM | Remember this is a hobgoblin not a human. No fancy college or family. |
| AllWillFall2Me02-24-07, 10:29 PM | As a question, what do you think Hobgoblins do? Spring up fully formed from Dragon's Teeth? Hobgoblins have families, just like all humanoid species have families. They may not be Particularly supportive, but they're a family nontheless. And as I highly doubt there are fancy ASSASSIN colleges, (though if there were, I couldn't see them being very racist.) I think it's safe to assume he was kidding. Now then, the backstory. [Insert Name here] was the third whelp spawned by his mother, who died bringing him into the world, and was destined to be a warrior, as all hobgoblins are, when the tribe shaman predicted that he would be the tribe's "Rharthaan Tarthuul" or Shadow Blade. A small sect within the Hobgoblin society, the Tarthuul, as they are known, are the hidden guardians of Hobgoblin tribes, dwelling in deeper darkness than their warrior brethern, always ready for those who would strike dishonorably. However, before his training was complete, his entire tribe was slain, down to the last child, but for his master and himself. His master trained his ward all the more intensely, for now they had to avenge their fallen tribe. Eventually, they brought swift and silent death to all who had destroyed their people. Then, needing a place in the world, his master decided to sell the abilities of his pupil to others, in order to make money. Hence his employment by the character's enemies. |

| jeffseadot02-25-07, 01:49 AM | He used to be a hunter for his tribe, being able to stalk prey like none other. Whenever idealistic adventurers came by, he was usually the one sent to their camp at night to mess with them. He eventually starts to enjoy killing humanoids more than hunting for his tribe, so he focuses himself on improving his abilities to stalk sentient beings and dispatch them quickly. |
