Hi guys.

As suggested by the title, I'm trying to figure out the kinks in a new character idea I had when I read this. (http://www.d20zines.com/v7/node/2987) I want to build a smart-aleck know-it-all, who actually does have most of the skill he claims to have. He's going to be a human (I love the extra feat and skill point :)) and use a bastard sword. By the way, we're starting at 1st level.

I rolled well, and placed as such:
Stats:
Str 16
Dex 14
Con 11
Int 16
Wis 12
Cha 14

I'm planning on grabbing combat reflexes and the spring attack line, because I love the idea of him taunting his enemies by darting around and making them come to him. Of course with liberal doses of sarcasm and taunting.

Tumble will be maxed, so he can flank his enemies safely and hopefully force them to move around him (triggering AoO as they go.) Know(Dungeoneering) will be maxed as it powers useful class abilities later on. Also maxed will be Search, Open Lock, Disable Device, Hide, Move Silently, Bluff, Sense motive, and Diplomacy. This leaves 8 skill points free.

I'm considering taking Perform(sing) for the roleplaying opportunities, maybe Intimidate or a few knowledge skills. Any good ideas on skills that would be fun to roleplay with, maybe add a twist to his background?

He will likely become the face for the party, with his high Cha and skill selection, so he'll have plenty of opportunity to show off his superior wit. ;)

If any classes that might emphasize his smart-aleck nature or make him more generally useful as a part of the party, please, spit them out!

Possibly most important, I need some tips on little lines, or things he can do that aren't explicitly insulting, but with a little bit of delivery...

Rouge is the ovbious first choice, but if you want to go with a more "woah" effict {as a high charisma would suggest you would}, try the soulknife from the expanded psionics handbook. Seeing as they are basicaly the rouges of the psionics they have the class skills you want and at level 5 gain the ability to manifest a bastard sword with their minds.Beyond that I don't have much advice{my DM is old-school. He is fearful of this new fangled stuff}. Happy playing.

Go with rogue and maybe later on Master of Masks, they get access to a wide variety of things.

As for things to say take a look at any marvel or DC comic. Super-heroes always seem to hold a conversation in the middle of beating down the bad guy (or from what I remember..).

Sounds like you have a Rogue or Bard in the works there. Of course, I can have a smart-alec mage as well who trash-talks in battle, but it's a bit more dramatic when you can taunt your foes (check into Improved Feint coupled with Bluff skill for real flair on a fast-talking combatant).

I'd look into eventually going Duelist. They fit your mold perfectly!

As for lines, yikes. Most are situational, but check into the series "Firefly" (movie Serenity). Besides being one of the best series ever canceled after one season, the main characters are very roguish and talk a good game with plenty of humor mixed in. You could probably pick a few lines off Mal.

As for some little lines, hard to say without being in a situation, but quips ("I ain't sayin' this won't hurt", "Can I get a ____ - insert noise as you rush to battle") or jibes ("Please, you fight like you trained at the pixie academy of martial arts", "Beware, this bastard sword was forged in the fires of Dis and empowered...ah what am I sayin, I bought it at Larry's Discount Blades and it's still kicking your arse").

Have fun. :D

There is a class that screams out your named from the Dragon Magazine Compendium called the Jester.... Flavor text: The jester is the master of the verbal put down, the hilarious joke, or the savage verbal lashing.

They basically are like bards in most of there abilities, but instead of inspiring your allies, you humiliate your opponents.
