| Shaggy_Shaggs04-08-06, 04:04 AM | Help! I need answers to these questions! What do people look for in a character's story? Look here. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=88555) How many times a week do people check character's stories? It varies depending on the user (how often each user checks such things), how often the story posts are updated, and how interesting the stories are. Can I add Flash to my post? I don't know whether you can or not, but I do know that it'd probably be a bad idea to do so if you could. Slowing load times down just annoys people with slow connections (such as myself), and is likely to be a distraction from the text, which is the important part of any post on this board. Post anything else that you may think will help me. Go read this. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=562115) This is without a doubt the best character story writing I have ever seen (and more or less the only reason I frequent this board, watching for updates). And if the author shows up and posts in your thread(s), take what she has to say seriously. She's good at what she does. EDIT:  That's two of us recommending Whren so far. |
| Need_A_Life04-08-06, 04:26 AM | 1) They generally look for a well-written story. 2) I check Whren Kehrsyns background every time someone posts in the thread, whereas there are many stories I never read. Generally depends on the title and the first five lines of text, if I'm not interested by then odds are I won't be, others might read more or less before making their judgement. Of course, just because a story isn't interesting doesn't mean I don't read it, but if a 10page uninteresting story has been posted, I leave someone else to provide the feedback, but if it is only 10 lines, I would probably give some advice (assuming I could come up with any) 3) Don't use flash. At least not here. If you were thinking of making a movie about a characters life, I'd be ignoring it until everyone was talking about it, at which point I'd reluctantly watch it. If it was just for animations, then just don't. Ever. |
