Characters start at 5th level and the setting uses the standard Greyhawk deities. Just for fun, I decided to create a multiclassed Wizard/Cleric with the intention of moving up to the Mystic Theurge prestige class. Long story short, instead of creating a min/max monster, I'm really digging into the concept of the character. He's a human Clr 3/ Wiz 2 and a worshipper of Boccob. His chosen domains are Magic and Trickery. I had the idea of a wandering student of magic, helping wherever he can. Not to draw undue attention to himself, he goes disguised as a fighter with a greatsword and full plate armor (which is really just a glamered mithral shirt). When I meet up with the other PCs, I'd like my character to remain shrouded in mystery for a little while. I think it'd be fun to have the other players keep on guessing about what my character really is. So far, I have the following feats: Scribe Scroll (Lv. 1 Wizard) Skill Focus: Spellcraft (Lv. 1 Feat) Spell Focus: Enchantment (Lv. 1 Human Feat) Martial Weapon Proficiency: Greatsword (Lv. 3 Feat) I was thinking of possibly losing Skill Focus or Spell Focus in order to pick up Improved Unarmed Strike. Then I could really confuse the group when my character starts kicking and punching in the middle of combat. Any thoughts? I really like where this character is going, so I wanted to get some outside opinions before changing anything. Thanks! |

If you are trying to mimic a fighter, go either solidly for full-arms-and-armour, or for unarmed strike. You probably don't have enough feats for both, and they aren't really compatible. Consider putting lots of points into the skills disguise and bluff. Intimidate could also be a good idea. Then give yourself a reason for this deception, and stick to it. Develop the background story for the reason and this may help you with more ideas on the deception. |
