Kenshin was a samuri who was employed by a young government trying to seize control of the current crumbling dynasty. He never knew his parents, and spent most of his child years in a slave caravan. He was forced to watch as all the slaves were slaughtered before him, but he was rescued by a master swords man before the murderers took his life as well. He trained for 15 years by this swords man, and became the only apprentice to the unique sword style. The philosophy of the style is to base your attacks off reading the other person's emotions. When he became employed by the new government, they all saw that no man could stand up to Kenshin and his style, so they made him their chief assassin, The Botosi (Manslayer). After the new government won their revolution, Kenshin vowed never to kill again in atonement for all the blood he had shed. It was then when he first picked up the reverse blade katana. Kenshin quirks: *You know every inch of sword. You know how to cut the hair away from someone's eyes without injuring them. This is how well you know your weapon of choice. *Your style is everything. The sword you hold pales in comparison to the way you use it. *In combat, just because someone draws a lethal weapon doesn't mean you have to kill them. If fact, chances are you wont even have to remove your sword from it's sheath. Onto roleplay hints for your character... If you really want to play your character in the style of Kenshin, your character should probably start play with a normal Katana. Kenshin was never truely evil, as he sided with a government whose future reign would ensure peace throughout the land. But you do have an un-caring heart. ANYONE who would disturb that peace should die at the end of your blade. A neutral good alignment would probably work best here. As you progress in levels, slowly start to question your own ferocity. Ask yourself why, in combat, must you kill any and everyone who raised even a fist to you. One final thing... Kenshin is not afraid to die. The weight of the world is on your shoulders, and you always try to find new ways to support it and defeat your enemy at the same time. Hope this helps. |
