| Good Agnostic12-02-05, 02:41 PM | If you are new to D&D and are starting in Eberron, I'd recommend starting with a more mainstream wizard choice: a wizard from Aundair. Aundair had the most eldritch might during the last war and has one of the few remaining wizard's colleges. You could be a veteran wizard, a professor wizard, a student wizard, etc... Have fun! |

Why is that? well, kalashtar are almost exclusively focused on psionics and have no arcane traditions whatsoever. If your interest was in playing such a unique character, you'd want to figure out why your kalashtar character forsook psionic training in favor of arcane knowledge. Was your character an orphan raised outside of the kalashtar community? maybe your character is convinced arcane knowledge is the key to defeating the Quori menace? If you're really set on this, I'd spend a lot of time reading up on Kalashtar, the Quori, the Dreaming Dark, and Riedra. I should note though that Kalashtar are one of the harder races in Eberron to play, simply because they really are quite an alien race, with a totally different outlook on life than a 'normal' race (after all, they share their brain with an immortal extraplanar spirit, they can't dream, and they're part of a mostly secret war that the rest of the world knows little about). If you're interested in playing a wizard, you may also want to consider something a bit more common such as a gnome wizard/researcher from Zilargo and/or House Sivis, a human arcane student from Aundair (as mentioned), or a death-obsesssed Aerenal Elf wizard. If you're interested in playing a Kalashtar, you're likely going to want either ba a monk or to pull from one of the psionics classes if your DM allows psionics. Soulknife is one of my personal favorites, but that might just be me. Make sure to read the dragonshard article at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050110a Anyway, good luck! |
