Not sure why the group needs a bard, several would argue that there are more important roles to fill if you're talking about what the group "needs," but there's nothing wrong with playing a bard.

Other than race and class, what do you have so far? Anything? What attracts you, as a player, to half-dragon spellscale? If we know why you like a certain concept, we can better help.

Also, what are you looking for, exactly? Help with personality? Mannerisms? Background?

And what setting? Homebrew, Greyhawk, Faerun, Eberron?

The more you tell us, the more we can help.

Also, I don't care so I certainly mean no offense, but some on these boards are sticklers for grammar, spelling, etc. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you'll probably get more responses if you at least proofread a post once before sending. Not to be an ***, but out of 5 sentences, there are problems in 5 of them, and that's going to make some with valuable information not feel like contributing. I've seen it around here.

Best of luck!

But first of all:

Figure out why he is the race combo he is... How did he breed forth? That would be the best idea when making a halfbreed characters story...

How many bard levels can he have after LA?

How many bard levels can he have after LA?
If memory serves me, Spellscale is LA0 (Races of the Dragon, I don't have a copy yet but I skimmed my buddy's copy one night). Half-dragon (LA3) would mean, assuming normal rules are in play, this character has one bard level.

If that's the case, I'd recommend staying WAY back behind the party. You will be a support character until you get your hit points up, because assuming you have a good Con score, you'll MAYBE have 10hp after your racial adjustment. Your fighter buddies, even as elves, should have at least 25-30hp, and your ranger probably close to that, so you won't be able to take front-line punishment. Consider maximizing your social skills, taking heal spells, and take feats that enhance or diversify bardic music in some way; in a fight, you act as morale-booster and cleric, and in town you're the "face" (with a very odd face). I only mention these statistical elements in the Development thread because they'll need fleshing out and can add hooks RP-wise: Why does your character choose the spells known he does? Why does he focus on Bardic Music? Where'd he get the specialized training? And why is he travelling with a trio of elven weaponmasters? Plenty of questions... and the more questions you answer about your character's background, habits, beliefs, etc, the better the character.

For RP cool, consider Dragon Disciple prestige class? I don't like it stat-wise, but it might be better to BECOME a half-dragon than to start with only one class-level. You'd start as a spellscale bard4, and eventually enter the PrC. It'll take a long time to become a half-dragon, but it's a fun ride story-wise.

Just my two coppers.
