| Werwoelfin04-02-06, 12:29 PM | At the moment we're playing an Eberron campaign that has grown out of some one-shoot-adventures. As we went up in level, it became obviously that my character would cause to many problems OG, so I decided to kick her. (I played a succubus posing as a musician :schemes: ) We have had recently reached level 6 at this point. I haven't had much time to build a new character, so I decided to pick up that half elf bard concept I've built to show that such a character could be effective. What I have until now: Ch'elar ir'Emedeoden is the youngest child of a brelish noble family. Since it was clear that she would never rule the family's property and because she was such a sweet, lovely young girl (with puppy dog eyes), she didn't have to learn all this aristocratic stuff but was free to take up the way of a bard. She learned much about singing. Also she had a good feeling for people and was able to settle the harshest disputes, so she was invited to join the diplomatic corps of Breland. Doing so, she had a fun time entertaining people with her songs and seeing all these noble courts. Soon, it showed that she wasn't that good at negotations but she has this gift to just come and make everybody have high spirits. If ever necessary she could talk one's head off - she did that once to (succesfully) avert an assasination attempt to another noble. In thanks for that, he let some artificers from House Cannith make a very special rapier for her - a singing blade. [I]As long as she could remember, she has had these dreams about flying - flying like a dragon. Some time ago, her dreams changed a little bit: another dragon appeared there and he came closer and closer in her dreams but he wasn't frightening. Then, one night, he was right next to her, he turned her head to her and said "Wake up!". So she did - and found a golden plate with the words "Ten Bells" engraved. (She hasn't had any dreams about dragons anymore.) Next day she read in the Sharn Inquisitive about an adventurer group that uses the Ten Bells - a hotel-restaurant - as their contact place. seeing the latest events as a hint to go adventuring, she moved to Sharn hoping for new songs and some heroic deeds to sing about... The last thing - about the dreams and so - is something my DM worked out with me. His plot involves the Draconic Propehcy a lot. I'm going to take the words of creation feat and the seeker of the Song PrC, so I want to play her very good. My biggest problem is that I have another very good character, a CG asimar bard 1/sorceress 4/cleric of sune 1, and I want them both to be really different. (In case you need to know that, feats are skill focus (perform song), lingering song, song of the heart and spells are friendly face, harmony, inspirational boost, improvisation, elation, harmonize and grace. I took the half elf bard racial substitution levels for first and sixth level.) |

A human and a chaotic person would very often split up, not form a house together... Is the house in which he belongs an elven house or a human one? But bard/sorc makes PERFECT sense, while Cleric does not at all... Why is he a cleric? How did he came to be that? Having a noble background, he SHOULD know some noble stuff, even though he is not the oldest one... Not just skip all connection to the family... How is his relation with the family now? And the other houses? Can he aquire help when he needs it? Does he have enemies? |

| MasterOfPsychic04-03-06, 04:43 AM | An half-elf house? Is that even possible? EDIT: And I'm not Ebberonese, so what does dragonmarked (or whatever it was called) do/mean/incline/alter? |
| Werwoelfin04-03-06, 10:01 AM | Yes, it is possible and yes, the noble house Emeoden is a half elf house. (In Eberron, half elves have really become a race with their own traditions and their own dragonmarks.) I have not found a list with all the brelish noble houses, so I just invented one. The house has its seat in the parliament but it is neither the biggest nor the richest one. It has nothing to do with the half elf dragonmarked houses but I'm pretty sure they're distantly related somehow as almost all half elves in Eberron are. But bard/sorc makes PERFECT sense, while Cleric does not at all... Why is he a cleric? How did he came to be that? Seems like my post was a little unclear. I don't need help with Te'bara, my asimar bard-sorceress-cleric. She is a character I have played from first level and I took cleric because it fitted. She really believes in Sune and her message of love. The problem I have is that they are both CG and that they are both good in an exhaulted manner. What I'm looking for are details that would make Ch'elar (my half elf bard) a different, an unique character in play... How is his relation with the family now? And the other houses? Can he aquire help when he needs it? Does he have enemies? I think, SHE is too unimportant to really have influential enemies or allies. Maybe whoever is responsible for that assasination attempt don't like her very much... Mhm, maybe I give her a little "nemesis", a rival in love affairs once or something like that... Her family don't like to see her adventurering and they are be a bit unhappy with that. On the other site, if she survives and would become widely known that would raise the family's prestige. (They do not yet know with whom she's adventurering...) Having a noble background, he SHOULD know some noble stuff, even though he is not the oldest one... Not just skip all connection to the family... She hasn't skipped all connections. If there was something she could do for her family, she would try to do it. And she has many friends (not deep friendship but they like her) around all the other nobles she ever met. She knows much about who belongs to which house and how to behave in the right way. And she always reads the gossip section of the newspapers ;) And I'm not Ebberonese, so what does dragonmarked (or whatever it was called) do/mean/incline/alter? Dragonmarks are some sort of magical birth mark - you might be born with one or it could appear later. Only humans, elves, halflings, gnomes, dwarves and half elves could manifest one and even within these groups you need to have a special bloodline. (Dragonmarks are recessive hereditarily). Each dragonmark allows the use of one or more spell-like abilities depending on which dragonmark your character has. Of course, this is not all about dragonmarks but I hope it is enough to get an impression. |
