Yes, the title is contradicting, but it's the best description I can come up to describe my character :)
----------------------------------------------------------------
The character in question was originally a succubus sorcerer. She was captured in a Plannar Binding circle, managed to break from it, and fought a titanic spellbattle with the wizard that conjured her.

Eventually she gained an upper hand and slew the mage, but she was severely weakened. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to remain on the material plane, she decided against returning to the Abyss. The succubus found a Calimshite noble family, and possessed the soon-be-born fetus, and entered a rejuvenating slumber to recover her powers.

What she did not predict, however, was the consequences of joining herself with an undeveloped soul. As the boy (!!) reached adolescence, the succubus awakened from her rejuvenating sleep, but found herself bound to the mortal body. She wrestled for control of the body, in which she effortlessly "beat" the host into submission.

The now-succubus (incubi?!) grew up in the noble house without much incident. Unfortunately, she found herself trapped in the current body (so to speak), and she lost her magic apitude due to her transformation.

She still possesses part of her succubui powers, such as flying and being DISTURBINGLY attractive :P She has become an adventurer (with family resources to support her) to seek as much power as possible. She has joined the clergy of Garagos (a mindless god does not care about who you are), has become an able fighter and an outstanding diplomat during the process.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now she's traveling with the party (obviously), but I need help to fill in details and loopholes to make the story more plausible. Should I keep the original personality for dramatic effects? Or would it be better if the succubus merged with the mind of her host? Other than power, are threre other possible motivations for her to travel with an adventure group? How would a (former) powerful outsider interact with mortal beings? Should I include the influences of "growing up" in a human family?

A thousand thanks! :D

Hiho,

Ooooh, I love it. Not only is it better than "My guy is a fighter who also trained at a monastery so I have one level of monk" but it involves gender bending! HA! Great work!

Okay, I suggest two routes..

a) Your character is litterally possessing the body, and the host soul is still resident. This is problematic because she could still be forced out.. her main motivation for adventuring should be finding a way to gain a permament body, or something of the sort.

b) My preference - she's in full control of the body and can't be kicked out. Thus, her reason for adventuring changes. She wants to regain her sorcerous powers until she's strong enough to break free of her mortal prison. After all, she wants her demonic body and full strength back, no? ^_^

I much prefer the second route. Its sinister and desperate at the same time.. I love it. Reminds me of an Elven heroine who was reborn in times of great need to save this noble elven family.. only this one time, something went wrong with her rebirth.. a Dwarven hero who was also reborn in times of need was born in her place, and she was born into his. The result? A female elf in a male dwarf's body.

You'll have to work out some things with your DM. Your demon is obviously going to retain a lot of carnal knowledge, unless she's going to suffer from some kind of amnesia. I suggest working out a Prestige Class too, something similar to Acolyte of the Skin, only you gradually regain your Succubus powers and form [and gradually turn female in the process! ha!]

Well it depends on if they merged in personality or not. Such as, does she remember everything the boy does as he grew up? Or was it like waking up and she just smacked away the boy's soul. If that was the case I think that he/she should for the most part act the same that he/she did as an outsider.

But then again if she does remember the boy's memory she might have more human/mortal like characteristics and thus might consider traveling for other reasons. Like to help a family member?

Another twist maybe you could add, is that the boy's soul ends up getting even ground with her and kinda like a duel ownership of the body and personalitys.

Ahh im rambiling now.

Prehaps the resident soul lost control of the body but still has some neural control, hence, his urges and 'learning curve' have plauged her from 'birth'. While she is very much in control, in time os weakness or stress, he he able to wrest control from her. In fact, she has grown dependant on using his 'maleness' to keep her disguise up and not be seen as odd by her family.
Speaking of her family, growing up human has probably changed a lot of her outlook on life. She has been part of a family now and been loved in ways that were alien to her before. Pardon my tritness, but I think that may start to override the demonic hard coding.
Plus, she's been raised as a boy and thus learned ways other than magic and mind games.
I picture this character as a sort of Jaquline of all trades, being just as handy with her'his'thier sword as with tounge, spells, or... other weapons.
One last thing, she's probably discovered a sort of pleasure in engaging in 'the game' with females now as they are more challenging quarry than us guys ;). Not to mention, girls like guys that looks (and think?) like women.

Thanks for the great input guys! :D

I think I would merge part of the boy's persona to the succubus. Her mind power is far superior than a mere mortal, but she inevitably absorbs the boy's memory.

Gaining full control of the body is probably the way to go. Regaining her powers is a really interesting idea, but as a personal preference, I think her priority would be staying on the Material Plane. If she is desperate enough, the girl-demon could always find someone to banish her back to the abyss! I think a CN thrill-seeker might be less stereotypical than the CE "I'm so power-hungry demon". But hey, I'll steal your great idea and present it to my DM, maybe she's give me a personal quest to regain femininity :D Or if she starts finding girls more favorable than boys... maybe not :smirk:

So yes, I believe the alien human society ignited her curiosity. If her family treated her well without looking for obvious gain, the behavior would certainly interest her. Perhaps she experienced pleasure derived from another person without involving *cough*draining*cough* his life energy

Seriously though, being raised as a noble may present her the possibility of "intangible" power. She has seen many times her father (read:weak aristocrat3) ordered around powerful warriors and wizards to do his bidding. Might be a nice motivation for her to travel! Earn personal fame, attract followers, and use them for political influence? Sounds like an idea.

This is still a rough outline of the character concept. Feel free to criticize or refine our little demon!

Edit: added random thought :P
