| DwarvinJedi04-04-05, 07:53 PM | Ok, so I am making a Star Wars character for an online game, that takes place some 5,000 years prior to the Battle of Yavin 5,000 years before the Battle of Yavin… It is an era of unmarked expansionism for the Republic. Expeditions have discovered numerous new hyperspace lanes and encountered new species throughout the galaxy. Exploration and invention is taking place on an unparalleled level, and at the center of this lay those known as ‘Jedi’. The Jedi are slowly emerging as the accepted peacekeepers of the galaxy, though this position is by no means clear or assured. The Jedi are a splintered organization, with no cohesive leadership. Individual Jedi Masters run schools where students they deem worthy are taught with whatever methods that Master has found most effective. This has led to segregated philosophies and techniques. There is no ‘Jedi Order’, merely a loose collection of equals tied together by a sense of respect and camaraderie. The bonds between Jedi are matters of honor and tradition, not law. A fully trained Jedi Knight is free to travel whatever path he chooses. Even the most respected Jedi Master would hesitate to openly condemn a fellow Jedi's course of action, even if that Master foresaw great catastrophe at the end of their path. Similarly, the governments of the Republic freely proposition individual Jedi for aid and assistance, rather than issuing mandates. Jedi archetypes run the gamut – wandering Jedi in search of knowledge, self-appointed protectors, rogue ‘Lone wolf’ Jedi, and mercenaries that sell their services to the highest bidder. And at the far reaches of the galaxy, an ancient race long thought extinct, a people once as brothers to the Jedi, are setting into motion events that will forever change the course of the galaxy... As the Republic looks towards a new horizon, so too do the Sith. * * * This is a Star Wars Roleplaying Game (d20) group. The actual game continuity is set in the Star Wars cannon, and takes place roughly 5,000 years before the Battle of Yavin (just prior to the great Hyperspace War). Pretty standard really, except for a few twists and turns. so far I am making a slightly dark Jedi Guardian who focuses on knives(lightsabers are not standard), but I almost never play combat-oriented characters so I need help with his CD, if you need his stats here they are Eischlag “Quickblade” Reingreifer (ĪSH-lak rīn-GRĪ-fer): Male Human(Correlian) Jedi Guardian 1; Init +3 (Dex) Defense 16 (+3 Class, +3 Dex); Spd 10 m; VP/WP 10/10; Full Atk: +1/+1 melee (1d4+1/1d4 / 20, knives) or +1/+1 ranged (1d4+1/1d4 /20 knives) Atk: +4 melee or ranged (1d4+1 knife); SQ; SV Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +1; SZ M; FP 2; DSP 0; Rep 1; Str 12, Dex 16, Con 10, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 12 Equipment: 2 Mastercraft +1(attack) Knives “Messer and Dulch” (1 kg each, 50 credits each), Skills: Jump +3, Pilot + 5, Sleight of Hand +5(+9 for concealing knives), Tumble +6, Swim+4 Speak/Read and Write Common Force Skills: Battlemind + 4, Enhance Ability +2, Force Defense +5 Feats: Force-Sensitive, Weapon Group Proficiency (simple and blaster pistols), Favored Jedi Weapon Proficiency (Knife), Ambidexterity, Weapon Finesse Force Feats: Control Appearance: Eischlag stands a full 1.7 meters tall with a slight build. His long black hair pulled back in a ponytail. He wears a black tunic, and a black cloak, and a black utility belt. In this dark color scheme his bright green eyes stand out, radiating confidence and compassion, though he seems detached from the world. Two ornate knives can be seen always shifting within his cloak. Motivations: Eischlag normally rushes into fights, though he is not stupid, and will only fight if he knows he can win. He uses his mobility to outmaneuver his foes. He loves flying in low atmospheric obstacle courses. His quick wit and fleetness of foot only exceed his love of racing. History: Force Powers: I need to fill in his History, and how he views the Force, and need to fix up his Motivations, the only req: I would prefer him to be from Corellia, please help me, because I normally play sage/historian types of characters. |

However, if you want to be a knife kind of guy that wouldn't be a bad way to go...or you could go force adept and let knives be used as your force weapon, but that is also optimization rather than development...just some things to think about. It is never bad to allow your boy/girl to have a gray point of view in regards to the force if he/she is going to be a dark hero. This way you could walk the line in regards to the force. I believe I heard about a type of Jedi that felt this way toward the force in the old d6 version of the game. They were called the Baadu or something like that. You can find a link to them in regards to the old d6 version here (http://www.rpg-domain.de/JHV13/part6.htm) Do what you can with that, but I think that those concepts would make for a cool character if you could put those terms into d20 and if a DM would let you go that route. |
| Lobo1304-12-05, 09:05 PM | i'm just not sure what type of help you want. i could write up a couple of histories for such a character but then he wouldn't really be "your guy". so... here's a homework assignment. what does it mean when you say "dark jedi"? does this mean the guy never agrees with the council, the code, or does he jsut do things a bit different? is he the guy they turn to when they need to "solve" a problem with another jedi or potential threat? if so, osme of the work with wolverine in the ultimate x-men com ic may be good reading for you. the book isn't that great, but the way that the various agencies view him would make a good fit for this guys personality if you wanted to go the "give it to him so we don't have to worry" archtype. next you'll have to determine why he does what he does. Does he have to ie fated or compelled? or does he just view this as a job, something he's good at and wants to continue. or he might owe the jedi or their way for some great personal event. either way, this type of historical record could give you all you need. as i said before, if you just want a write up of a darker jedi background, history, motivation,a nd shoe size just ask. but if you want to develop him yourself, there's lots to consider.-Lobo13 |
