| HammerFist08-24-03, 06:05 PM | I want to play a gnome who can rage (all levels in Barbarian), but I don't want to have him be barbaric. I want him to be your everyday gnomish farmer, who somehow got this girt/curse of RAGE. How would you justify this background? |
| TheMightyMcClaw08-24-03, 08:20 PM | Hmm.... if he's just a farmer, and not a gnomish warrior, it becomes a bit harder. However, you could have the character be chosen/cursed by Erythnul or a similar diety. If he's evil, then the rage could be a blessing he uses to sow death and destruction. If he's not, it could a curse and a cause of great angst for the little bugger. If you've ever played the game Psychic Force (unlikely), there are a few good examples of that sort of character. However, if he's an actual gnomish warrior, it could just be that he gets a wee bit excited when he starts swinging his axe/sword/trident/whatever. Or, you could be a combination thereof. |
| Trydan08-25-03, 01:26 PM | Well, it's this allergy thing. Whenever he eats too many (insert name of random root vegetable here) he goes all hyperactive, and bursts into rages at the slightest bit of provocation. He's never realised why though. Alternatively, he was slightly mad, and got kicked of the farm after he went on a rampage through the chicken shed with a sickle. Or perhaps it is a divine thing... he is blessed by (insert name of random gnome-god here). |
| Daeri Maer'jiir08-25-03, 01:51 PM | Mayhaps this vegetible is a Turnip? Or he could have an "animal" inside him and progress to an animal lord etc. |
| HammerFist08-25-03, 06:57 PM | I plan on playing him with a CG alignment. I don't mind him being a warrior, but I want him to be part of gnomish society, not some savage. Great ideas, keep 'em coming! |
| QaPlah08-26-03, 12:25 PM | Maybe he's seen some family members die, and a rage built within him. he killed those who killed his family, and now is an honorary rager (or something like that)l. |
| Savras08-26-03, 12:52 PM | Luckily enough, the HBG (Huge Bull****** Garbage, also known as the WoM {Waste of Money} and Hero Builders Guidebook) has something for you: Member of the Well Respected Order of the Badger: Even in civilised lands, there are times where the gnomes require defense beyond the occasional crossbow or hatchet. You are part of small group trained in the Way of the Badger, taking as your guide the ferocious defense that creature makes of it's den when cornered. Members of your order, though possesing all standard barbarian ability scorses, are generally indistuishable from other members of gnome society, save for the badger paw tatoo on the palm of each hand. Hope this helps, Savras |
