OK so I created a class similar to a shuganenja (sorry for spelling) a shuganenjais an elemental caster class from complete arcane. The campaign is pretty awsome as well. The gods were tired of the world so they decided to do something new. they destroyed the planes leaveing bits and pieces floating around the cosmos. Then they created a new plane. There is a portal in the middle that shoots out random matter.

This character was an advisor to the emperor of a Chinese-like nation when he was succked out of time and thrown into party from the portal. He carries a longstaff and is Lawful Neutral.

I need a Chinese name, and a decent backstory that involves, how he became advisor, what does he do with his elemental powers, how he should act in the party.

2 things:
1. It's Shugenja (just so you know how to spell it.
2. It comes from Complete Divine, not arcane

Now... the class your character is playing is just similar to a shugenja? Or is it just the shugenja itself. Maybe your character could use some of the shugenja traits and treat an element as his favored and if you are doing a similar class, an element that he refuses to use unless in emergencies.

Backstory wouldn't be too hard to figure out, so I'll just give a framework and leave it to you to fill in the blanks. Born a noble, his family is from a long line of advisors. Learned his powers from his family as it has been part of the tradition for generations. He uses to prove his position, not really for any purpose but just to show that his power gave him authority over others with the same abilities and this is why he was an advisor to the emperor.
Act snoooty like he is better than them because he had such a high position. But be sure to realize that your character isn't strong enough to survive on his own, especially because he is in a new world, and so have him be grudgingly respectful to the other party members.
