| Brac6411-02-04, 10:26 AM | Yeah...I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with a story for my character. My DM has been letting me play even though my character makes almost no sense in the context of the game world. Somehow npcs don't seem to notice a grotesque lizard man of extreme muscularity horribley bred with the dark race of drow - and drow don't even exist in the world (not in this part of the world at least). Actually, my character has 14 cha, so he's a fairly good looking grotesque lizard dark elf man. If you can figure out some way to make sense of this character, you sir are a better man than I. So any help coming up with a back story would be appreciated. |

He is on a vengeful quest to kill his father" Something worked around that maybe...but then again I'm stupid... |

If Drows don't exist and havn't existed, how could you be half-drow? How could the DM let your character go unnoticed when your such an oddity? I personally would change from half-drow to some other race that makes more sense like human or elf if they exist. It might change your stats around a bit but it would keep the overall character flavor the same sense you really have no clue on background at the moment. |
| Brac6411-04-04, 09:10 AM | TYDS, I'll probably have to end up changing my race then...even though drow are so cool, but I guess I'm not really much drow anymore, am I? Did I mention that I was lawful good? I have the wosrt of both worlds since my character is a red half-dragon. What race do you think would be best? We are playing Eberon so i was thinking about shifter...Even though my character is a bit odd, 'I believe' he is intricately involved in the story line, so that's why my DM has been lenient. Pixie, when I talked with my Dm we both thought about something along that idea. The thing is...I took the template class for Half-Dragon, I wasn't born one. Thus, my dragon heritage had to be somewhere back along my family line. |
| The_Yellow_Dart_Swinger11-04-04, 11:33 AM | When you say you gained the template, the first thing that comes to me is a magic experiment gone wrong.. or maybe right. Really you can pick any race since it is a template and thus is not restrictive to what race you are. You should also think about how your character looks since it will pick up dragon traits, yet still retain some of its base race traits. A half dragon-orc might look pretty damn ugly compared to a half dragon-elf which might seem thinner and a bit more graceful and each dragon would look different reflecting both the dragon side and the base race side in looks. So it would just be a matter of personal preference to which race you are based on what races are in your campaign world. Just remember that you also have to explain how you became a half-dragon. |

This character was from the first real campaign our group played and there was a lot we all learned from our mistakes. Now we've played for over a year together in various campaigns with different members of our group dming their own campaigns. But we decided to return to our old campaign that had been left unresolved - but first we needed to sort out some of the mess. The world is homebrew, and is kind of crazy and ad-libbed. We had been playing a more serious eberron campaign, but when we switched, i decided to take some of the cool stuff of eberron with me. We had a big balance problem with the half dragon last time we played, but it doesn't seem to be a big issue now, and we're all having fun, so we just want the character to make some sense. Right now Brac64 is thinking of making him a half-dragon elf with an appropriate past. Oh, and he does have a hat of disguise now. Originally Drake (the character, what an original name eh) was full elf and he gained levels of the template as per the thing on the wizards website a while back. He has been changing to dragon gradually as his "blood awakens" or something like that. |
| Myrdinn11-06-04, 01:11 PM | You said your dragon blood originated from way back right? then maybe a dragon changed shape, or was changed shape by someone else and raped a member of your family (great-grandmother, grandmother) (If this seems like a stupid idea, its probably because im new to DnD and don't know exactly how everything works) |
