| jaysen0008-27-03, 04:45 PM | Feng is a half-orc barbarian, born to a human mother who was raped by an orc during a battle. The human he calls 'father' wanted to get rid of the bastard child, but the mother begged the father to treat the baby as he would a child of his own. Feng's mother died from complications during the birth. The father honored his wife's wishes and did not kill the baby, but he had no love for the child. All he could see when he looked at Feng was the orc that had taken his wife's life, even though he had long ago hunted down and killed the orc that did this to his wife. It seemed that his father's love for his wife had saved Feng's life, but at the same time doomed him to being lonely. Therefore Feng had all he needed growing up but love. The rest of the tribe tolerated Feng, but most of them harbored the same feelings as his father. Feng had one friend in the tribe, the blacksmith, who had taken pity on Feng as soon as he was born, and who recognized that Feng showed a spark of intelligence. Feng would spend hours with Berwyn in front of the forge, and learned from the man not only how to make weapons but to accept others as well. When Feng came of age within the tribe, he decided that it was time for him to leave and find his own way in the world. He wasn't bitter over his treatment in the tribe, mostly because of Berwyn's influence. Barbarian lvl. 1 AL CG Str 17, Dex 13, Con 16, Int 13, Wis 14, Cha 7 Weilds a Greatsword that he made with Berwyn's help I'm pretty happy with the history that I've come up with for Feng, but I have no idea really how to roleplay a half-orc. I'd like him to have a warrior spirit, not be judgemental of others, and to be searching for a place to fit in. Any advice on personality or anything else in regards to how to play this character would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

However, once provoked, do not have him back down from the challenge. This will go along with his warrior spirit. - If he wants to be accepted, have him accept others. Try to stray away from thowing insults for no good reason, or provoking others without being provoked yourself first. - Charisma: 7. You're probobly not going to be the leader/representative for the group. Feng rarely talks, but when he does, what he has to say is straight to the point. He does not waste words on gossip or thoughts that are unrelated to what is happening right now. Thats about all I have for you right now. Hopefully some others will chime in on this discussion and offer other suggestions. Quietmortal |

Being raised by humans you will miss out on some of the fun of being amazed by other races' lack of savagery and their sophisticated cities, however you will still have to gain acceptance in lands that will often frown on your presence and in some cases simply not tolerate it. Adventurers seem to more readily accept half-orcs than your everyday commoner, especially if that half-orc happens to be a big strong killing machine that always takes the front lines and protects the rest of the group. Tips for roleplaying: You are intelligent but not a leader, so sit back and soak up knowledge at first, later as the group comes to rely on you and really accept you, your opinions will matter. Be the first one in, last one out. You will become a beloved and integral member of the party if you are the heavy-hitter. Be loyal to the group. |
| Aasimar08-28-03, 04:48 PM | Your character was treated quite unfairly by his stepfather. So in later life he might have a problem seeing others being treated unfairly. He might be the guy that stands up for the weak and who really dislikes bullies. He might be like a gentle giant. The big tough guy who doesn't want to hurt others but who has a sort of a hair trigger. When he gets mad, he gets really mad! That works nicely with barbarian rage. He might even be a bit shy. What is cooler than a massive half orc barbarian who acts shy around strangers because he is used to be ignored or derided? When people are kind to him he will be a stalwart companion, loyal to a fault. He is very intelligent, but might not really realize it himself because in his youth he was always told he was no good at all. So let him say intelligent things or make good observations and act as if he is surprised by himself. You can roleplay him evolving into a more sure and self aware individual at higher levels. |

He might also have a pet dog since dogs don't care what a person looks like and accept unconditionally. Probably a large and loyal breed similar to a German Shepard or Rottweiler so he can WRASTLE with it. He might be extremely pious. Always wearing a holy symbol and praying regularly. You could even have him be a follower of Sune to provide a unique contrast in his personality. He shouldn't speak very often and when he does it should be direct and to the point. He might even have the philosophy of "walk softly and carry a big stick". To him, actions speak way louder than words. Hope this helps. |
