Update: Thanks to Aradin_Magmaforge I now have a great pic for Viridian. So happy.
I plan to still work on the background, but here it is.

Alright, wrote this up for Viridian, a Warforged Wizard/Swordsage/Jade
Phoenix Mage (well thats the progress I intend to make).

Viridian is 6' 4", weighs 293 pounds, and has glowing green eyes. His body
coloring is moderately dark. His most distinguishing feature is his Ghulra, a large
bird made of viridian flames.

In the Last War there were alot of experiments involving the Warforged. Ways
to make them tougher, stronger, faster, more intelligent, more cunning. When
the first real Warforged was made, the first sentient Warforged, House
Cannith knew that they had created something that could change the way war
was waged. As it was, war was bloody, and cost many lives. More than that
armies were expensive and troops required training. They had to be sought
out and recruited. The Warforged could change that. They didn't have to grow
up, they were created as adults ready to learn, and soon ready to fight.
Their training took a fraction of the time it would take to train a normal
soldier. They didn't require food, water or sleep. They didn't require
medics, they could learn to repair themselves. They took directions and, if
worse came to worse, they were independant thinkers and could survive in
enemy territory until they could return to their masters. House Cannith knew
that everyone would want these living, constructed soldiers.

But as time passed and the war continued, Cannith knew that they could make
even more profit off of the Warforged. Instead of simply training Fighters
and Warriors they began to create Warforged trained in different fields of
war. Scouts to survive in enemy territory and conduct hit-and-run raids.
Artificers to repair and enhance their brethren. Rogues to infiltrate enemy
encampments and gather information or assassinate leaders. Wizards and
Sorcerers to wreak havoc on the battleground with destructive magics.

Viridian was a member of the 35th Company, created to serve Cyre as a unit
of Wizards to support their warrior counterparts. His squad was ordered to
accompany a contingent of warforged to eliminate the remains of an Aundarian
battalion that had taken shelter in a monastery of the Sublime Way. When the
warforged arrived at the monastery they demanded that the residents allow
them to take the wounded soldiers. They refused, the soldiers had asked for
sanctuary. Viridian's orders were clear; those who would not surrender were
to be shown no mercy. They battered down the doors and invaded. The
residents would not surrender the wounded soldiers. It was a slaughter, the
students had no chance but they fought to the last. One of the last
surviving soldiers was a wizard or artificer of some sort. As a final show
of defiance, he unleashed an explosion that gutted the entire monastery,
burying the warforged beneath tons of rubble.

Only Viridian survived the ensuing blast and collapse, but he was trapped
beneath the rubble. He was trapped in silence and shadow. A warforged needs
no air, no food, no sleep. For a year he remained there. For a year he
thought.

Eventually he was unearthed. A tall human with brown hair and piercing green
eyes stood before him. He wore light armor and had a sword at his hip. His
right arm was tattooed, depicting a large jade phoenix rising from ashes. He
introduced himself as Sarek and explained that he once trained at this
school, and had wished to return to renew old acquaintances with its
residents, but arrived to find it destroyed. Not knowing what had occurred
he cast a spell to determine if there were any survivors, and discovered
Viridian. Viridian explained what had happened, including his part in it and
omitting nothing. Sarek was entraged, and threatened to destroy the
warforged. Viridian stood before him with his arms at his side, offering no
resistance. He explained that after a year to think he now knew that after
what he and his fellows had done, his destruction would not be undeserved.
Sarek faltered hearing the sincerity in his words and offered Viridian a
chance to redeem himself and walk a different path than the one he had taken
when he attacked the monastery. Viridian accepted and Sarek took him under
his tutelage.

In the following months Viridian learned of the Sublime Way, a path to
enlightenment and the mastery of one's body, mind, and soul. Sarek taught
him the basics of the path of the Swordsage and the finer points of Wizardry.
Viridian learned that it was not wrong to fight. What was wrong was his
actions. He was created with free choice, and when he chose to follow his
orders blindly and slaughter the monks he chose to become less than he could
be. He squandered the gift he had been given, and he squandered the lives of
the students and the warforged who followed him.

During his training Viridian slowly began to suspect that Sarek wasn't
telling him the truth when he discovered him. He couldn't understand why his
teacher would keep information from him, but he didn't bring feel it would
be wise to bring it up. When his basic training was finished Sarek bid his
student goodbye, telling him that he would be seeing him when he became more
experienced. With no more explanation he left.

And so Viridian set off to learn more about the world and live his life by
his ideals.

Sarek wasn't telling Viridian the truth when he discovered him
among the ruins of the monastery. He had only visited the monastery once and
had in fact been looking specifcally for Viridian. Sarek is one of the Jade
Phoenix masters, seeking out his student. When he saw Viridian's ghulra he
knew he had found one of ancient comrade's, but was fairly surprised that
its soul had come to inhabit a warforged. When believes Viridian has become
experienced enough he will return and tell him the truth, and then conduct
the Rite of Awakening.

Ended up being longer than I intended.

Unless your DM has established the fact that warforged have souls, I would not do this. The idea of a warforged having a soul would be unsettling to most people in Eberron so running saying your a reincarnated being would draw a lot of the wrong kind of attention.

Well it wouldn't really be blatantly put out there unless I ran around telling people, it would only be known to the Phoenix Mages.

Wow, this is cool, I was just working on this very same concept. Here is what I suggest.

In the final years of the last war, House Cannith began experimenting with warforged infused in the essence of outsiders. So began the project of the shinning leigon. Many of the experiments failed, but finally house cannith got things right, and warforged infused with the essence of outsiders began to march to the battle field. The only problem with this process is that they could not control what souls they were summoning into the metallic bodies. Many warforged began to behave erractily, acting on the tendencies of there outsider essences. Demon and Archon based warforged began fighting each other. House Cannith decided to shut down the project, but not before something extraordinary happened. The soul of the last warforged made for the shining leigon was not that of an outsider, but the soul of a Jade Phoenix Mage on its way to be reincarnated. SL-#321 was created, but did not have the defects that the others had. He was the only Warforged in the shinning leigone that was not decomissioned. He set out to make his way, fininding a strange attraction to the arcane arts. It is from here that one the other JPM find him and awaken him, that could be an interesting RP adventure in itself. Hope this helps.

That would be the recently released Tome of Battle. Oh, and does anyone know the commands to post a link to a picture here so that it shows up on the page?

I like this character a lot.
I wouldn't mind knowing how you plan to build his feat and skill choices as he progresses, ability scores, equipment; fully detail him for us, won't you?
A character this good should be known by all!

I like the background. The best part, in my opinion, is the tension between Sarek and Viridian. I would keep that as an ongoing plot element if at all possible.

I would have Sarek resent Viridian for some reason or other. Maybe Sarek hates Warforged. Maybe he was given this assignment as a punishment; it can't be fun digging out that much rubble. Maybe Sarek really was looking for someone at the Monastery, even if he himself had never been a student.

The "reluctance" of Sarek to train Viridian makes for a nice element, and makes for possible plot twists further down the road. :twocents:

But, you do what you want with him (of course!). You've got a great story there, and a really nice portrait as well.
