Need help with my new character [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm starting a new campaign today sometime and I've been allowed to play as a tiefling, so I'm an ECL 2. The other players are gonna be level 2.

I'm at an impass in terms of what character to make. I can't decide between Scout, Ninja and Warlock.

I want to play up the fiendish heritage of the Tiefling.

Warlock seems to be alright, seeing as the class in it's back ground says that the class abilities are derived from pacts with fiends and demons long ago. The -2 I get to chr won't be that bad, if I pick utility incantations and not very many offensive ones.

Ninja seems like fun. I can play up the sneaky and slightly evil aspects of tiefling and ninja. Plus I like playing quick, agile characters. The +2 dex and int from tiefling doesn't hurt.

Scout, just seems like a fun class, but doesn't seem to fit this semi idea I have of my character, which is either neutral or evil, with an affinity for fiends.

I know it's going to sound corny, but I would like to be evil without being too evil.

Warlock seems like fun, but then again so does ninja. Multiclassing just doesn't seem to fit. I mean, it would be fun, it just seems like I lose to much of each class for it to be effective, plus, the skill sets are all over the place.

This was posted last night on another board and now I'm wondering if I might not go wizard or sorc and try to become a full fiend or something. You know, realize my fiendish heritage and go all out, going from a tiefling to a full fiend.

Plus, ninja... it just seems so cliche, even if it would be fun to play.

Is there anyway to make a non cliche ninja?

thanks for any and all help

Well if you want to play up his heritage you dont need to take the warlock class, just make his heritage damn obvious. Give him a tail, cloven feet, horns, glowing red eyes, a smell of brimstone and have flys buzzing around him (fable anyone?)

Ninja is a very specific class and it kinda takes the front seat to race (like monk) which means you would be a ninja first and a tiefling second. But if you took scout, you would most definetly be a tiefling first and a scout second.

A Tiefling scout would be very cool, maybe he was forced into the army as a foward scout because nobody liked him and figured he would be dead sooner rather than later. They gave him all the impossible missions, but he just kept on surviving.

I dunno, im just winging this here.

We have a "generic" warrior and cleric in the party, or so I'm told. Generic as in, a typical sword and shield fighter with power attack and such and the healing, undead destroying cleric of the good diety.

My friend is probably going to be playing another fighter type I think

Perhaps a wizard? Usually a race with an LA is not recommended, but the tiefling has a bonus to INT, and some immunities that could help him.
