Hi guys - My new character is going to be a Female half ork ranger, and I'm having some trouble imagening what she would behave like. Obviously I'm a guy who usually plays human characters - my DM says that my last characters personality was to close to my own - So he threw together this combination - I'm having some trouble imagining what this character would act/speak like.

Some Basic Info

STR - 18
DEX - 16
CON - 18
INT - 9
WIS - 14
CHA - 10

Female
Half Ork
Ranger
Chaotic Good

Basic character info - Cast out from tribe due to impure blood (human), raised by a Human Druid - He goes missing and this is her motivation for adventuring (her search for him). Well not smart - she is wise enough to know that she doesn't know enough of the world to hunt him down efectively. Thus she tries to find somebody to help her in her quest. (DM still working on this).

I think she will be distrustfull of the Arcane due to her ork heritage, as well as being raised by a druid who doesn't particularly care for people playing around with natural laws.

Speach would be impaired due to low intelligence - I'm planning on increasing her intelligence to 10 as soon as possible to show the "civilizing" influence the rest of the party has on her.

Now - how would a half-ork speak ?
What would she think like ?
How would she react to other people givin her heritage ?
Will she be inquisitive of the world out there ?
Will she be talkative or reserved ?
What do you guys think ? I have never played a half ork before - so any advice would be appreciated.

I was considering using the mode of speach from David Eddings _ Belgariad books - "nesting in the place of the man things dens" enc.

As some on epointed out in another thread 9 is not incredibly low just a little below average so there probbaly is no need to give her a speech impediment. She may have been originally raised in an orc tribe but being mentored recently by a human druid she may have lost any Orcish accent. Also she may speak very rarely as it is, she knows that she doesn;t know everything and she's spend most of her time in nature communing with animals so she may only say thingsthat she thiks are immediately important. She uses as few words as possible and is generally very forthright about what she says.

Also I say pre pick the animal she is going to have as a animal companion and design her behavior around that creature. If you know she's going to pick a wolf give her a pack mentality, have her imediately try and assert her power as the alpha but if she fails have her be an immediate subbordinate. To the leader but try and adopt a place in the pack that is anything but hte omega. I'm not as knowledgable about other animals but if you just look up habits of the creature you want to model yourself after you should be fine.

Lastly you may want to consider taking the Animal Lord PrC which will give you some traits like the animal you choose and will continue to let your animal companion grow like a ranger, although you'll give up any spell casting. Also I've personally become fond of the natural bond feat which adds three to your effective druid level for your animal companion.

Technically you're not supposed to post on more than one thread. I don't care (I did it once myself), but if a moderator sees it, they'll get pissy. Anyway, I responded on your other post of this...

I saw that this forum was called character development - I think the other was incorrect to post in.

As for actual levels - I'm sticking Ranger all the way with no multi classing.
