well here the rough edges of the story so far. We play in an evil campaign and i am starting a half human, half fiend rogue. Now I have some good ideas as to some elements to the background. Here it is so far...

Her name is Sirat, and she has 2 levels in rogue. She will be taking the assassin prestige class as earily as possible. The events fo her life I need hlp with. The reason that she is an assassin is that her half demon blood has turned her evil and cold. She was ok growing up, and as soon as she hit adolescence and puberty, her half demon blood started taking over. she started having bad dreams, not sleeping at night and so on. She is in constant dull pain as her body goes through minute changes, which also contributes to her wanting to inflict pain and death on others. ultimatly the only thing that gives her piece of mind is plotting and executing the next kill. This gives her something to focus on and when she has completed that kill she is sated for a while and feels no pain or sleepless nights. She hates all religions and seeks to destory anything to do with religion. Her outlook on this is, she knows that the gods exist and that there are servants of those gods (clerics) that act for their gods. she believes that her birth was a cruel joke played by some god, good or evil dosn't matter, and that now her outlook is this...the gods created her for some reason and she dosn't understand why but she is gooing to make the gods pay for the involvement in her tortured life. The evil gods probably made her the way she is...in pain day and night, and for that they will pay. The good gods are just as guilty for alowing her torment to happen.
Now I just need some backgorund events that led her up to now...some cool stories of her travels.

Hi!

I am also playing in a evil campaign and have been thinking about these things lately... We are members of the Cult of the Dragon and my character is an Acolyte of the Skin. "Fiends 4ever!"

Maybe she is a bastard daughter and doesn't really know who her father is. His father could have been a powerful demon in the shape of a human, seducing her mother. Maybe the whole thing is only a game of the demon, watching a tormented soul struggling in the world... No gods involved, only in her mind.

Then when the fiendish heritage began showing some signs, she might first have started dreaming of violence, torment, etc. Maybe the dreams haunted her so badly, that she started to think of them constantly, finally leading to a murder. The target could have been a neighbour or something but she made it all look like an accident. She found some ease, but later the dreams started again. Another murder and so on... Then she gets caught, but narrowly escapes and that throws her to the adventuring life.

She would probably end up living in the street after her escape. There she has to defend herself or maybe take revenge to someone who has abused her. And all the time the demon is watching and laughing - another struggle, another murder, sorrow, hatred...things that demons enjoy. She has to steal food and money just to survive. By that time she starts to show some physical changes because of her fiendish nature.

Then she might have drawn the attention of a thieves guild member. The guy watches her carefully and finally decides to recruit her. Of course her abilities make an excellent assassin. A great career waits her but OH! - she murders the guy that hired her and so she is chased again. And the demon laughs...

Remember, you don't have to tell everything to other palyers - only the DM should know these things. This way you could even help the DM to create some random encounters (the guild members are after you).

Needs still a lot of work, but here you go.

I see a background littered with her pushing away those who would be close to her, which only cycles her pain and suffering around again.

As far as travels, I would have a "Vader" moment--perhaps a clear moment when, despite the bad dreams or dull pain, a point where she was still a hopeful, loving girl at heart. Perhaps she was forced to do something so horrible or repugnant it dulled her positive emotions even further...
