| squidfur-11-23-05, 09:44 PM | I'm wanting to throw a derro assassin at my players sometime soon. Unfortunately, my mind has given me no large amount of help as of late, and so little to no ideas have cropped up for this character. So, I'm asking the lot of you for help. The campaign I'm needing this for is yet to get started so details are sparse, but if it helps... The party consists of 3 drow 1 - wizard 1 - rogue (with plans to be an assassin) & 1 - monk all are of the same house, based in Ched Nesad (Forgotten Realms). Set about a month-month and a half-or so before Lolth falls silent. I know that I want to have one of the house priestesses using the PC's against an older/more powerful sibling. But in what matter? I'm yet to make up my mind on this, but this is likely where things will start. This may or may not be the way to get the derro involved, but I'm looking to have the derro get involved in the story with the PC's in the area of about 5th-6th level. Anyhoo there you have it, the rest is up to you..... |

Later they find a small cave animal, dead and mutilated. Perhaps it was thrown at them from the darkness. Then its a larger creature, perhaps a monster. It drops down from the ceiling on top of them, having slid off a nasty spike. Then its a NPC they met earlier, tortured and mutilated. Perhaps he's still alive, just, and not for long. Along the way, there are traps, increasingly difficult and very painful. They're harried along the way, by traps and taunts. Darkness descends, there's a sneak attack, then the attacker is gone. Mysterious sounds (by the SLAs) lead them up and down the tunnels, wearing them out, wasting their resources, wearing down their HP and their sanity. |

Why does she need a reason? The closer a priestess is of the top, the more chances she has to become the future Matron Mother! If your party is especially close to the higher-ranking priestess, the usurper could hire the derro to assassinate a few soldiers from their own house or from a different house, and then frame the rogue PC, and she would try to involve her bigger sister... The matron mother won't tolerate a priestess who doesn't display more subtlety... |

Didn't say she did. :P The part I'm not sure of with the priestess, isn't so much with the reason for the things she does, but the actual "what does she do" part. As far as the derro goes, I'm looking for just about every aspect of his character. So any help on background information, motives, abilities, etc. will be much appreciated. OK.........go!! :D |
