| Fated10-12-03, 04:51 PM | I just started out RPing and am having a difficult time Role playing my characters personality and how he'd react to certain situations, though I have what a # of people have said is a well done back story. Some of which I'll go ahead and post.- He's a male half-Celestial half human, with a homebrew class thats somewhere between Psychic warrior and Paladin. His name is Sirrus and is the product of a Celestial and the Fae;runian hero Aencar Burlisk. Aencar is the late king of the dalelands a region which is now, and usually has been ruled independantly in it's thirteen differint parts. The campaign settin gives no info on any progeny he left behind so myself and the DM have decided Sirrus to be his lost son, timelost even. Before Aencar developed his wasting sickness he had a few romantic encounters with a (human polymorphed) good outsider, coutal specifically. As storys tend to go things went bad for Aencar, I can define being devoured by a dracolich little else. Heartbroken my characters mother fled to her home plane (a demi one called Cycalla) He's been raised by his mom for eighty three years (though in maturity and health he's only nineteen as per his coutal mom) in the plane with contact with various other youths, a few of which he developed a close friendship with (someone else's character who needs to sponge off others for his creativity  ). Anyway Cycalla is destroyed in 1372 D.R. through mysterious circumstances that will no doubt be unveiled by the DM at the appropriate time. Fortunately Corwyn escapes, unfortunatley through a planar anamoly he is sperated from his family and shifted to the material plane, Ashabeenford a small city in the Dalelands specifically. His attributes are as follows str.-16 Dex.-17 Con.-15 Int.-18 Wis.-19 Cha.-20* *Yes I realize the stats are overpowered, but our charactes are starting at level three (ECL 5) and were specifically given to us by our DM. Possesions- +1 Longsword, +1 leather scale of landing, 5 trail rations, compass, various other random trail supplies But thats all I have so far, I realize I'ts not much but I'm confident in the level of talent I've seen around here. |
| TinySilverChalice10-12-03, 05:15 PM | What diety does he worship? (I'm assuming he's LG by the paladin-type class.) One quirk, seeing that he was born (I'm also assuming) on another plane, he's probably afraid of being banished, or being trapped in a Magic Circle. Perhaps he doesn't trust arcane magic. |
| Fated10-13-03, 07:56 PM | His powers stem more from his neural abiliteis then from a deity, though if it helps he worships Ma'at, a LG aspect of Isis. If I were to categorize his class with a certain personality I'd say he's a much more studious paladin without the overzealousness, picture a weapon oriented Elder Druid from the Shannara books. I'm not so much feeling the distrust of arcane casters however, he was raised in a very high magic society and is relativley comfortable with powerful magic. And yes though he was born on an alternate plane (the demi-plane mentioned in my previous post) he's being treated as a native outsider, like an aasimir. |

That will insult him greatly, since his father was killed by a draconic creature. For the same reason, he could be a fierce ennemy of Sebek and Tiamat. Even the priests of the Platinum Dragon could be considered ennemies. Actually, is his mother dead, or is he just unable to return to his homeplan? And what was this demi-plan looking like? An infinite jungle, a great montain, an endless golden city? He could feel very unease in the dales, and be affraid of chickens, but feel in tune with lizards... I have some difficulties to see him worshipping an aspect of Isis, and being from the dales. If his father was from Mulhorand, it could be easily explained, but his father is from the Dales too... |
| Corwyn Burlisk10-15-03, 12:39 PM | His mothers status is being kept from him, (it's hinted that she's on an alternate plane, but ultimatley it's up to the DM) the demi-plane he grew up on was relativley, small for a plane. Think the size of Rhode Island but a jungle, with only the etheral mists for a sky. As for worshiping an aspect of Isis, it's simply the closest thing to his origional patron the realms has to offer. If he were a cleric/paladin/{insert divine caster here} an avatar of Ma'at would have been dragged along in realmspace with him, but with circumstances the way they are his belief simply transferes to the next closest patron, Isis. At least thats how my DM explained the transfer. |
| Morka10-15-03, 12:56 PM | Originally posted by Corwyn Burlisk His mothers status is being kept from him, ... You mean he doesn't know if his mother is dead, he simply have no mean to communicate with the Cycalla demi-plane? Also, do you know how Cycalla was destroyed? Is it an accident, or the actions of an evil entity? If he could have a known ennemy, it could help greatly for the background. Either Sirrus is hunting this ennemy in secret, or the ennemy is sending him tracker to eliminate him, since he knows too much. Let's suggest Talos, who developped a mean to destroy something very large; he tested it on Cycalla before applying it on Faerun. And Sirrus know this. Or he knows only some part of this. |
| Corwyn Burlisk10-16-03, 09:01 AM | He knows his mother left Cycalla via portal as he saw her leave by it, unfortunatley the portal was ripped asunder before he could escape through it. It's possible that his mother made it across to the other side just fine, but it's also just as likely that she's lost adrift in a void dimension. Communicating with Cycalla is a moot point as he knew he was the only one left there when he left. I like the idea of him being hunted by whatever destroyed the demi-plane, definatly worth using. |
