| Drascin09-12-06, 08:58 AM | Hello, oh denizens of the CharDev boards! :) I'm having a bit of a problem in my campaign, so I'm going to have to create a new character, and I thought it would be better to ask for some ideas here first, as you guys are much better at this than me ^^. Anyway, situation: I had created a CG "freedom fighter" fighter for the newest campaign I'm playing, but it seems there is too much Stupid Evil alignment in the party to play that in any way resembling verosimile. So I'm switching. Since I have to play something non-disruptive to such a group, but I refuse to go full Stupid evil myself, I was thinking of making someone who simply wouldn't care. My idea is a ruthless druid, one with a "darwinian evil" mentality, so to speak: the strong prosper, while the weak will die; that is nature at her finest. So, if someone dies because he couldn't defend himself, it's his fault, isn't it? :P Problem: I'm pretty stumped as to what kind of background could one such druid have, and how should I roleplay it. Any ideas? |
| Phelot_Plaguecrafter09-12-06, 11:35 AM | I could easily see a true neutral druid here. I'm thinking maybe a little bit out of the way race to go with a story based on said character being outcast, having to live off the land, and eventually recognizing life and earth as simply a circle of death. I'm thinking this character should be wholly concerned with natural selection. Like, no holds bar, throwing natural selection jokes around all day long, never remorsing for killing, but never enjoying it either. Shifter keeps jumping out at me. Dreamsight Shifter. Seems like an offshoot race that could easily fill the role of someone made to live alone off the land as a hermit for years. Druid defenitely makes sense to me for this character. I would look into a lot of spells that simply dish out the pain. Deadfall seems like perfect flavor for this guy. As far as prestige classes go...Hmm...Well, there's always Moonspeaker, that racial specific druid class for shifters. Blighter is in the mix, but it seems to evil aligned for your character. In truth, I think I'd stick with 20 druid. Some food for thought. |
| Alakar09-12-06, 11:57 AM | Warning, this post might not be suitable for some readers. Rated "R" for Strong violence and gore. Born in to a family of druids, your character had a natural knack for nature. Your family seemed warm and loving, while teaching you the ways of the claw and leaf. When your day of passage came, your father and mother met in the woods with the other druids in the area, and all the children who were of age met in a forest glade in the dead of winter. You were instructed that you were to go into the forest to take down a great bear, the only catch was, only the four children bearing a claw of the bear were allowed to live, for they would prove the strongest and ensure that the druids tradition would be carried on bye the strong. The fifteen of you set out to track the bear. It took you three days, four of your comrades falling to frostbite and sickness, two others mysteriously disappearing. Your group set upon the bear with savage fury, the snow turned crimson as both man and beats were torn at the flesh. Bloody and battered, you and your now remaining six companions hacked at the bears claws, trying desperately to be one of the four. A battle broke out, and two more of the would be druids fell to you and the three remaining. Seeing that there were only four of you left, you all began the long trek back to the glade, where the elders waited. A thought occurred to you, if four people made it back were considered strong, what if one had two bear claws? So, in the night you waited for the morning to come, and inevitably one of the others would go off on his own for some reason or another. You knocked your bow and released and arrow straight into his forehead. You took his claw and rejoined the group. When asked if you had seen the other member, you simply replied that he set off early on his own. Later that day, a thick snow began falling, and it became hard to see. You and the only surviving female took shelter in a near by canopy, while the other continued on. She was considerably beautiful, and had desires for your character. However, the traumatizing battle, and the freezing cold had driven you to semi madness. You played along with her flirtatious demeanor, when she leaned in to get close, you drove and arrow head into her torso, as she writhed on the floor, bleeding, you took her claw and ran out into the night. You found the after a days travel, you found the remaining druid, frozen to death in the snow. Now, with all four claws, you would be declared the strongest druid! You arrived back at the glade, half dead and delirious. Appalled that you had killed the other holders of the claws, you were banished. So now, you live on your own, making your own way. You know you were the strongest, and that one day would return to that druidic conclave to make sure that your traditions would only be carried on be the strongest. Until then.... Here is an an evil druid. Things you might consider are the Blighter PRC class from complete divine. Hope this helps out a bit. EDIT: Was beat to the punch for the blighter thing |
