| wonderboy0610-16-05, 12:16 PM | Ok, a little back story first. My half orc barbarian (Diwrnach) was in a party with a half-celestial half-elf paladin, a half-elf rogue/fighter, a half-elf cleric, an elf fighter, and a elf ranger. they were adventuring around Chondelwood, they discovered that it was pretty much unclaimed land and soon got the idea to claim it and build a stronghold. They pooled their cash, Diwrnach contrubuting about half of the gold they used to finance their construction project. a while later the group decided that they would try to make it a elf nation similar to Evermeet, but on main land Faerun. Soon after Diwrnach was kicked out of the fortress. and that were we are now...I need some suggestions as to what to do and how to do it. Or where to go and how to get there. |
| Fithero10-16-05, 08:40 PM | First ask yourself what a half orc was doing with a group of elfs in the first place... not a common thing. Once youve done that, either ask to be part of the nation any way, make it a nation of half casts (since most the party is half-something) or just ask for your money back. Failing that, have your character leave the party and make an elf. 10 lvls later your half orc will return with a orc horde and attack the petty elf nation. All good choices. Later |
| wonderboy0610-16-05, 08:55 PM | Hahaha, yeah, Im not sure why he was with a group of elves...He had adventured with the Ranger and Rogue/fighter before, and after other member of thier party the replacments all seemed to be elves. Most of the money has been spent so a refund isnt likely, and most of the people in the fortress are elves...about 60 4th lvl warriors |
| Harrow Blade10-17-05, 07:23 AM | After adventuring with a group and then contributing a large portion of the cash to fund the construction before being kicked out seems to be very good grounds for revenege. So now there is a fortress full of elves and a disgruntled half orc. I like Fitheros idea of the orc horde. You were there for the construction you know something of how it all works. you are in the best position for lead an orcish strike force or army in to take control of a brand new fortress and take out some pesky elves. I bet there would be thousands of orcs itching for the chance to help. You would need to work with your dm but if it works (it will need planning) it will teach them never to double cross you again. Take your revenege, it's more cosy on the darkside. |
| Uberwoot10-17-05, 11:01 PM | Honestly, you have to ask yourself- from your character's perspective- what he was doing with all those elves in the first place. Did he owe one of the characters a huge debt? Or, more likely, was it just a convenient way to build his own personal power? No matter which way you look at it, it's hard to justify being kicked out of a fortress by your fellow investors simply because they have an ideal that you don't fit. In this case, it's hard to believe he won't want revenge. Personally, I am in agreement with Fithero and Harrow Blade- revenge is the way to go in this situation. |
| erbmjw10-18-05, 07:40 AM | Half-celestial half-elf paladin .... and he let them kick you out when you fronted half the cash? He ( and possibly the half-elf cleric ) should becoming in for some serious attonement penalties/quest sometime soon. Unless your character was/is evil - not just chaotic neutral but actually evil of some type. What type of god is the cleric worshipping? If your character was not evil and you put it the correct way to the GM the Half-celestial half-elf paladin and the cleric may be forced(quest) by their god to become your follower  What level is Diwrnach? Would you give us a bit more background on your character? Do the GM and the players support hard-core role playing - ie can you use the players gods/religious beliefs to get them to open up this proto-nation to all half breeds. Or are the other players the type where their characters have to die before the player will change their mind? A couple of GM's I have played under would be fairly supportive of a player who has been betrayed ( and unless you forgot to tell us something important - that's how it looks ). If you were to approach your GM with a plan to try mainly non-lethal means to persuade them to open the proto-nation to all half breeds then you should get some serious support for your character. You should know the other characters well enough - who is angry enough with them to support this effort but will not require them dead? If you are close to leveling and have the stats for it - I would try and get leadership as a feat and then take a half-elf bard as your cohort - and then take whatever half breeds you can as your followers - try to get non-warriors - adepts/experts/etc - so that you can push for them to be accepted because of these skills. Plus if they are killed by the other side you can always swear revenge and likely you will be able to gather a larger force for a violent encounter because this "corrupt fortress of violent elves and half-elves unjustly slaughtered innocent men and women." If you can't get the leadership feat - or it doesn't make sense for your character -then try to get your story told all around the area of the fortress and the area's they are recruiting. Bad propaganda works wonders against small ( and it really is a small ) groups. Bards are you best friends when it comes to postive pr for you and negative pr for them - if you are honest with them the bards might even take on your cause for free - though if you succed in making a half-breed nation - you should be very supportive of bards - both those bards who live in the nation and travelling bards. If you can get a very high level and respected elf or half-elf religous leader (cleric/palidian/etc) to lay some public ( or private ) religious/political smack down on the player characters palidian and/or cleric that would also be very nasty to the charcters and/or the proto nation and their recruiting efforts :) If you get the chance find out all you can about the area surronding the fortress - both for economics and non-lethal warfare. It's better to persuade them to see the benifits of a half breed nation than it is to kill them all. *** If the persausion effort doesn't seem like a path for your character, sell them down the river to a bigger group. When they have lost the fortress and most of their followers - either force them to apologize or kill them yourself. |
| wonderboy0610-18-05, 09:09 PM | Ok answers first Answers What type of god is the cleric worshipping? The Paladin and Cleric of the group worship a (homebrew) lesser god named Fife. Fife is the elvin god of retrubution and war. What level is Diwrnach? He is currently an 8th lvl Barbarian and is about 2000 epx from 9th. Would you give us a bit more background on your character? Ok here the full back ground. He started out 1st lvl and went on quite a few adventures with the Elven Ranger (Ecojinn) of the group and a few with the Rogue/Fighter (Djinn). He had met the Paladin before but that was the extent of it. He left the group for a time, recruted as a merc. for a war between two fifedoms (which if the main sorce of his wealth). He then regrouped with the group, helping them find a wilderness area to claim and supported the project with the cash he earned. Not to mention he found Dwarven workers (who owed him a favor for cleaing goblins out of their stronghold) to come and build a moat and verry defensible fortress. Soon the group got some fallowers...mostly warriors from a tribe in the forest they inhabit. He was Given a small detatchment of beserkers and used them to raid and pillage caravans passing through on the roads that went through the forest (This netted quite a bit of cash as well). Soon after the elves gave his ment to another PC (whom was much less qualified might I add) on the grounds that he was an elf and I was not. So for a few sessions he walked around with nothing to do and then began to slowly and subtily pushed him out. Really it was lucky timeing, soon after that an army of human mercs came to avenge the humans killed in the caravan attacks. They destroyed most of the army, leaveing only about 50 survivors...the only ones to surrender (It was really a brilliant manover that they used to defeat the humans) So the humand of the area hate them, the elves love them and everyone else is neutral. Updates Ok this is great stuff, I wasnt at the last session but what happened was pretty funny. The Paladin (Valicean) and Fighter (Ferenz) left with a small number of guads to escort a large groupe of elves whom wished to re-settle near the fortress. They took about half of the warriors leaveing the other half with the Fighter/Rogue (Djinn). Djinn ended up takeing the remaining treasure and guards with him...and it is thought that he is on his way to the coast to buy a ship and make his way as a pirate rather than as a general. Valicean and Ferenz's trip was a disaster, the ended up ******* off the leader of the elves, so once they were inside he and his elves turned on the PC's and kicked them out of the fortress (the guards prefering to be under more competent leadership. Valicean and Ferenz ended up fighting...Valicean lost and apon regain consiousesness found his magic sword stolen along with his gold. Now Valicean and Ferenzare both traveling to the coast to try to intercept Djinn and figure out what to do. |
| Uberwoot10-18-05, 10:21 PM | I can answer this in one word: gloat. Find them, and gloat over their misfortune. Claim it is their own god's retribution for betraying a faithful friend. Tell them that they need to relearn the value of loyalty. Then, lead them to the coast and either join up with the pirate crew (I always wanted to do that) or recruit your own and hunt Djinn's ship down. |
