| Bowstrife02-10-08, 08:25 AM | OK hear goes:I am playing a male Forestelf druid but I am struggling with his back story.Anyway here is wat I have sofar:My caracter's name is Gil'ead Woodsoul and he is a male forestelf. This is a subrace of my own dezine(well it's more of a half-race) It's basicly were one parent is elven and the other dryad. The reason it's a sub-race is because it's so common in my campaign world.Anyway Gil'ead's father was an elf and was a explorer(so he was hardly at home)His mother was a dryad. So Gil'ead grew up in the forest with his mother to reveal all its secrets to him.Gil'ead loved the woods and had a special facination with plants.Avery so often his father would come visit telling of all his adventures which kindled a sense of adventure in Gil'ead in turn. But the fates weren't smiling apon them for when he was only 60 years of age his father died in a rather sticky situation with a dragon. Then at the age of 93 Gil'ead joined the local druids circle.Shortly after which his beloved forest was ravaged by some thing horrible(Ideas anyone?)Killing his mother in the process. The only posession he has to remind him of his parents is his fathers comp.longbow, his mothers emerald necklace and a large piece of heartwood from his mothers tree. Any and all ideas welcome. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose02-10-08, 08:55 AM | I get a sense you may have been a bit of a momma's boy, held away from even the elven civilization. Is that the case? No real contact with intelligent species save mom and the occasional other fey lends itself to a bit of a culture shock when confronting civilized, normal, folk. I would think even dad's presence would have been a bit discomforting he's shown up on several occasions. Perhaps you know expect all of the mortal races to be adventerous types, and don't understand that many exist in cities simply living their life in a fairly mundane fashion. Thinking on it You would probably have seen loggers and foresters as lone adventurers, at war with the wood and ravaging the forest. Perhaps the actual destruction was well within check and the other druid's were the only thing to hold you from going off to war with these depraved villians? Your mother's death could have been the result of a simple accident. Or perhaps she went to protect the forest herself after you told her of the depredations of the humans at the forest's edge and she was killed by people acting in self-defense? |
