Zaxter 11-28-05, 12:32 PM	I can't seem to decide on what I want this character's backstory to be (at the moment, nobody seems to know, since he keeps to himself a lot). His name is Neron the Stern, and he's a Lawful Neutral Half-Giant Ninja3/PsychicWarrior3 (man, that's really a mouthful). He mainly serves as the party's scout, but can also be a boon to his allies in combat (se below). Also, he posesses an intelligent Ring of Chameleon power, named Gazali. I haven't really decided on a personality for Gazali yet. He uses one of two weapons most of the time, a +1 Flaming Guisarme that he named "Devil's Tongue", and a +1 Ghost Touch Sai that he named "Angel's Fist". His combat strategies revolve around either tripping the opponent with his guisarme, or disarming them with his sai. If neither of those work, he'll coat his guisarme with Purple Worm poison and sap away the enemy's strength so that his allies can finish it off with ease. Anyway, here are some basic ideas for a backstory I was playing around with... *Neron used to be the leader of a nomadic tribe of social outcasts. He was eventually overthrown as the leader in a sudden and unexpected rebellion by some of his most powerful followers. He was then cast out of the tribe, and has been working as a bodyguard and a mecenary to get by. *Neron was one of the guardians of a portal that was said to lead to the another dimension. All mortal fools that attempted to gain entry on Neron's watch were slain mercilessly. One day a daring rogue managed to completely slip past Neron's sight and through the portal, and Neron was punished for his carelessness and was to be executed. Somehow he managed to evade this fate, and has been in hiding from his former lords ever since. That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. Tell me which one you like better, or if I can improve either one of them. Also, if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to let me know. Fithero 11-29-05, 04:23 AM	I like the second one more, but perhaps instead of the rogue escaping and him being hunted by his old order. Perhaps amid the battle betweent the rogue and your character, you both fell through the portal and ended up on the current plane. Now your character searches the plane for the rogue to bring back and he wont return until he has the rogue... dead or alive. Hows that sound? Later

Artifact 11-29-05, 10:51 PM	I also like the second story better. Here are some ideas: Maybe Neron has unique psychic abilites which make him an ideal guardian for the portal. You could ask the question: has undertaken any special training for this post? Who (or what) were his teachers? It is a coveted posting or is the title of "guardian" nothing more than another name for "prisoner". You mentioned that the half-giant has two weapons: one named "Devil's Tongue" and another named "Angel's Fist". Maybe Neron is the guardian to a portal which leads to "Heaven" or "Hell". Maybe Neron uses his psychic abilities as a "judge", a semi-divine being who determines which eternal rest mortals have earned. Anyway, hope these ideas were at least a little helpful. :)
