| Angatyr08-19-07, 06:29 PM | I am not sure if any of you remember, but a while ago, I started a thread about my (Neutral) party doing 'bad' things to stay alive. Some agreed that they were remaining neutral, although on the edge of evil, while others considered those actions completely evil. Well there is no need for any further discussion, they have officially gone evil! The rogue/Assassin killed a defenseless old nobleman to steal his stuff. The Cleric killed a bunch of innocents to raise them from the dead as guards. As a group they hired Mercanaries to protect a shipment of furnishings they purchased for their base. So they could not be traced back to their hidden base (they do not own the land it is on) they had it sent somewhere else and attacked it en route, killing all the guards and the wagon drivers. So I changed their alignments to evil. |
| Fithero08-19-07, 08:57 PM | Good work! To really ram it home, have a group of guards/officials come after them, one led by a paladin! |
| Angatyr08-19-07, 11:49 PM | I had a gold dragon attack them. To illustrate the point that bad guys have powerful enemies too. Nearly killed them all. |
| Baernwulf_of_Nor08-20-07, 01:59 AM | Evil fights evil more than it fights good. |
| Mr_Seth08-21-07, 11:02 PM | Agreed. Make sure they know their place in the pecking order - have SEVERAL of the more powerful villainous elements in the setting come out to give them the same ultimatum. Join - or die. None of them like competition, especially visible competition. |

None of them like competition, especially visible competition. Aye. That would be an excellent way to start them on an evil campaign path, working for the kingpin (or taking over the boss' turf!) is fun, and you can take and fantasize all sorts of great mob stories. Though they're probably at too high of a lvl to make that all believable. |
| CrimsonDeath08-22-07, 04:37 AM | How much XP would they get if they join the bandits?... |
| sylas08-22-07, 11:28 PM | *shrugs* It would depend on how well they role played it, I guess... |
| Satanoth08-23-07, 05:50 PM | A week ago my Party was exploring and trying to free Barovia from the clutches of Strahd and they do very bad deeds in order to survive like leaving the paladin and fleeing in terror form the zombies and leave her all by herself after they help her, the rogue captures Irenna, killing guards in the process to bring to the clutches of Strahd because he promises her that he will not harm the village anymore, turning her into a vampire in the instance and sending worgs to eat the rogue, the fighter grows so obsesed with fighting that in order to pick a fight in the bar he stab the bartender cause he doesn't like him. the cleric slays an innocent in order to "save her from the disease and later believing tha he stills has the divine powers with improved spells of death and killing while secretly Nerull is giving him instead of Pelor. they basically craft their own fates and eventually allied with Strahd(cause of the rogue), he devices a mass utopia of vampires to such extend that he leaves the party and the rogue joins him in Undeath and support him in almost everything. they start doing quests for him, doing mass evil deeds of epic consequences. the angels come to hunt them for what they had done(specially the cleric). so far the Campaign is an horror anti-heroe struck betwwen Evil vs Evil and Evil vs Good. |
| Angatyr08-25-07, 10:50 AM | In my setting, a powerful warlord is expanding a dominion and is exterminating all elves and half elves (they are resistant to his magical mesmer effect that mentally entralls people to his cause) The world is quite dark due to the bounties on elves, lots of people (PCs included) put in tough situations. The party are trying to investigate the reason behind the elf exterminations. Also fun is that for the Warlord's #1 General I am using an evil character of mine from a previous campaign: 10/10 Samurai/Kensai Half-Orc - Kuromaru Izanagi Badass (44 STR when Power surging) |
| Angatyr08-29-07, 08:08 PM | The party just finished a CR 14 encounter in 2 rounds without getting hurt! They had to assassinate a centaur chief (Lvl 10 Ranger centaur, CR 13) and he had a bodyguard of 5 Lvl 5 Ranger centaurs (each CR 8, but I only applied a +1 to the chief's 13). They snuck up to within 200ft. The True Necromancer grabbed a type IV necklace of fireballs, cast launch object and it landed in their centre. The wizard then cast fireball, which set off all the necklace's fireballs. Leaving the chief on 1 Hp, and all his guard dead. One sure strike shot from the assassin and he was down. So all up: Encounter cost: 1 item (5,400gp), 1x3rd lvl arcane spell, 2x1st lvl arcane spells Encounter made: 6,000gp worth of treasure + items (centaur gear, not very useful) and 19,400 XP (4850 per member) So I figured it wasn't too silly, and it was a good plan. They are now discussing buying some more necklaces of fireballs with this exact method of mass destruction in mind. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose08-30-07, 01:47 AM | Interesting I hope you made saving throws for any unattended treasure. Most of it should probably have been slag after all those fireballs. |
