In a homebrew world I have just rolled up my new character. He is a cleric of The Light. (This is a world that has just two gods, the Light and the Darkness, something like the variant in the DDeities and Demigods book).

My character, Walen Gabrael Cortez, is Lawful Good. He can best be typified as a warrior priest, as he is a good fighter.

(rolled ability scores, 4d6 drop lowest, arrange as you like gave me:
Str-17, Dex-11, Con-14, Int-12, Wis-17, Cha-12
Not bad if you ask me)

I, however, do not want this character to be a substitute Paladin. I want a hardliner. A tough warrior-priest that is out to fight evil. He uses a Bastard Sword.
How can I best do this, without crossing the line to Lawful Neutral? I do want him to fight the good fight without caring too much about the consequences. After all, the Law of God is more important than the fate of men.
Do you think this is possible, or should I soften him a bit?

I think it looks great, I hope you have fun playing him!

Hard-line is fine. The only thing that I would do would be to use some sort of detection spell, before executing anyone.

I think it is allright to be tough and relentless, but if you are lawful good you will have to consider the consequences of your actions. However you don't have to be all high 'n mighty, noble knight in shining armor.
Be tough and unforgiving when the situation warrants it, but try to be helpful and merciful as well, when possible. Just try to act like it pains you to do so. Try to mask your good deeds as practical/necessary choices. I think that works pretty well.
