| Arcanis4406-27-03, 03:53 PM | I want to play a cleric character, that much I know. I've never tried playing a female character, so that might be fun too. So a female cleric, and I'm a big fan of elves. So, moon elf is what I'm thinking. My question is, I see that most of these types of clerics are of Corellon Larethian. He seems to be a common deity. Are there any other suggestions for a female, neutral good/chaotic good, cleric moon elf? Thanks for all your input. |
| Theocracity06-27-03, 04:04 PM | The Forgotten Realms book Faiths and Pantheons has an overload of deities your character could worship, including an entire pantheon of Elven gods. |
| Arcanis4406-27-03, 06:10 PM | I know this, I have the book. I was looking for others' advice on the topic. What other deities, besides the obvious Elven Pantheon, would a moon elf worship? I know also that the Faiths and Pantheons book tells who worships each god, I'm just asking for any differing opinions/ideas. |
| Hammerhand06-28-03, 08:44 AM | If you describe your charachter and there background then maybe I could help you choose a deity but without further info about all we can do is suggest a book to look at.:smirk: |
| Nightlore06-28-03, 12:21 PM | Ahh...ok, I understand. I'll post the background and other information here shortly. Thanks Hammerhand. Boy...it sure shows through that I'm new on these boards. |
| Arcanis4406-28-03, 12:22 PM | That was supposed to be from this account, whoops. |
| Zoticus06-29-03, 03:24 AM | If you want to play a girlie girl, then i would suggest a cleric of Sune. The Elf's bonus to dex would be helpful for the favored weapon (a whip) and elves are supposed to be beautiful. The Heartwarder PRC that is associated with sunnites in pretty cool too. |
| goblinhero06-29-03, 03:55 PM | I hope your DM is nice. I've known DM's to single out the female characters played by male players. and what usually happens to their characters usually isn't very fun (some orcs, yep plural, had some fun with her, if you catch my drift and among other things), mainly as a lesson that guys shouldn't be playing female characters. you want a girl perspective in the party, get a girl gamer to run a character. it'll be more believeable from a roleplaying point of view, and diversity to your group. |
| Arcanis4406-29-03, 04:08 PM | I don't know, I don't look at it so closed minded as that goblinhero. There are no girls in our gaming group, nor do I know any whom I would wish to invite in (I know plenty of girls, just none that want to game). I think it's fine for a guy to play a female character, granted, it might not be quite as believable (like you mentioned). But you are entitled to that opinion. |
| lancer62606-30-03, 05:22 PM | I'm creating an elven cleric myself. Using the Wild Elf, you lose Int instead of Con. Way better for a cleric. You get longsword and longbow proficiency. If you choose the Elf domain, you get the Point Blank Shot free. If you take the War domain, you get Weapon Focus on your bow if either Shevarash or Solonor Thelandira is your deity. That way, you are lethal at range, have a full complement of cleric spells, and are proficient in the longsword if that becdomes necessary. Thanks Dean. |

| Trydan07-22-03, 09:44 AM | I've never tried playing a female character, so that might be fun too. We had in our last campaign ladies playing male characters and chaps playing female characters. The ladies managed it well, but then they are gamers, and read a lot of "male-style" fanatsy fiction. The chaps made a complete mess of it - their characters were just "drill seargents in skirts". So, if you are going to take on the female character, do some background reading, and plough through some Austin or Bronte novels first to get an insight into female thinking. |
| BetterButterBuddha07-22-03, 11:02 AM | Myself, I've always been a big fan of Eldath. Although not an elven deity, she's certainly sometimes worshiped by the elves (I think that there's a Mythal devoted to her somewhere). And I really can't think of a nicer "good" deity. The peace thing might be a little hard to roleplay... but that's why the Merciful special weapon ability exists. |
