| PlutoniumKnight05-14-05, 10:03 PM | Name (undecided), Age 35-40 years old. Height about 2-11, 33 pounds. He has black hair in a pony tail about a foot long down his back. His eyes are deep black. Family: Do you have a family? He had a family, in a large human metropolis where halflings were rare. He also has a large hulking half-ork barbarian friend who he spends most of his time with. In addition he has a star elven sorceress fiancee. Are they dead or alive? His biological family is dead, killed by humans when they couldn't pay the rent. He was only able to live because of the fact that he was able to hide in the chimney and cover himself in soot and not be seen. He and his barbarian friend however have been adventuring partners since they started out, and he met his fiancee about halfway into his adventuring career. Who are they? (Names, parents, brother/s, sister/s) I haven't decided on names for him, the barbarian or the sorceress. Where are they? (Do they live in a major city? Are they lost on the astral plane? Are you an orphan with no idea about family?) He and the barb lived in a large metropolis until they started off on the road. He now lives with his fiancee, with the barbarian walking distance away. What do they do? (Eg. Father is the local blacksmith and Mother a powerful sorcerer. Younger brother still at home wants to be a cleric) His father was a performer at a local circus but couldn't bring in enough to support his family well. His mother was basically a housewife who couldn't find a job. His Half-orc friend is an adventurer with him, same with sorceress. What is your relationship with your family? (Do you still love your parents? did they kick you out of home? do you still go home between adventures?) They're dead, their dead prompted him to start adventurer. Did your family influence your decision to begin adventuring? (Were your Parents adventurers and you wanted to follow in their footsteps? Did they expressly forbid you to take up the life of an adventurer which only drove you to do it anyway?) Their dead, they started his path as a rogue. Growing Up: Where did you grow up? (Did you grow up in a major city, Dwarven stronghold, country town, Elven forest village or wilderness? Did you travel a lot whilst growing up?) He grew up in a large human metropolis on the streets once his parents were killed. He mainly stayed they're until he ran away from the city. More detail on him growing up later. Were you part of the majority race in your home land? (Were you the only half-orc in a dwarven mining town or were you one of thousands of humans in your city?) He was one of the few halflings in the city, it being mainly populated by humans. Were you subject to persecution? (Did your race, class, family or other factor lead you to be persecuted by the locals or were you pert of a family held in high esteem?) As stated earlier he was persecuted for being a poor halfling. Did you grow up rich or poor? Poor, he grew up in a small house until he had to leave, and for most of that time he lived on the streets stealing and begging what he needed to survive. Do you bear a trait that identifies you as coming from a particular area? (Does your accent scream ‘I am from here’, do you dress in a fashion particular to one region, do your physical features tell others you came from a particular area? Do you have black skin and white hair and pointy ears?) Not particulary. Did you choose your class or did it choose you? (Did you purchase an apprenticeship to a wizard or did you have to steal to survive or did magic run in your blood or were you drafted into the army or did you join the clergy out of choice?) He started out as a rogue on the streets, than went into Invisible blade (CW) progressed from that into Whisper knife and 1 level of Master Thrower. His full progression is Rogue 12, IB 5, WK 10, MT 1. Reasons for Adventuring: What is your primary motivation? (revenge, greed, curiosity, love, peer pressure, divine appointment, geas, debt, freedom, hatred, friendship…etc) Revenge against the humans that killed his parents and other humans who think they can push halflings around just because their small and there aren't that many of them. Was there a pivotal point in your life? (Did you witness a horrible event, were you the victim of a cruel injustice, did you meet a great hero or deity, were you taken as a slave?) When his parents died and he was forced to live on the streets. Living on the streets he was constantly pushed around until he found one of his few friends, the half-orc barbarian who was punted into the streets when his human mother kicked him out.. The half-orc could protect him, few people wanted to mess with a half-orc, with a great-axe, and rage. While he could help his friend the barbarian, by knowing his way arounds, pilfering food for them both, making distractions so they could run away, using skills. Was being an adventurer always your dream? He wanted to live a normal life, but was forced to take up the mantle of a advernturer. Do you do it for the money or power? He did it for revenge, to avenge his parents death, and that of halflings pushed around every where. Do you want to become a hero revered across the country? He did want to become a protector of halflings and other races pushed around. Have you begun adventuring for love? ( Are you in love with some one who has gone / been taken away and you are seeking them out? If they are with you what keeps you adventuring?) Yes, their is a star elven sorceress/incantrix/archmage he is in love with. They are betrothed and are planning to marry in 3 months in a large cermony, with a whole lot of people. Is your dashing young hero trying to win the hand of the princess/prince or some other powerful nobility? No, he is already engaged. Were you banished or had to flee for loving a noble's daughter/son? No. Did you kill a rival and are now banished-never to see your love again? No, he adventures with the love of his life. Did you flee your home to avoid a forced mariage? No, he fled because his parents were killed. Why do you continue to adventure? (If you have had an adventure already why do you keep coming back? Revenge. Fleshing out: What is it that makes you unique? (Why are you different to countless other people in this world?) His drive for revenge, his upbringing, his goals. Do you have a hobby? (Do you play an instrument even though you’re not a bard? Do you carve chess pieces from the tusks of dead orcs? Do you paint? Do like to build boats even though you’re a dwarf from the mountains?) He likes to balance daggers on thier points on his fingers and flip them around. Are you or were you married? If yes, why are you adventuring. (Did your wife kick you out because all you do is sit around drinking and telling tales of the good old days with your adventuring buddies?) Bethrothed, both he and his wife-to-be adventure together when not just relaxing at home. Do you have a distinct feature? (Do you have a unique tattoo, a facial scar, a very large nose, a lock of white in your black hair, only one hand, oddly coloured eyes or a twitch?) Very black eyes. Do you have a personality quirk that makes you different from the average? (Do you always wash your hands after talking to a cleric? Do you blink three times before casting any spell? Do you refrain from talking to anyone shorter than you?) When angry (esp. when exacting revenge on people who are evil to halflings) he doesn't yell, he speaks in a cold flat icy voice. In a somewhat quiet tone, he stares at them intently, puts his hands on his daggers, and shifts into a fighting stance. What are your plans for the future? (Do want to travel the planes and chat with demons? Are you hunting a particular person / monster / organisation / item? Do you want to build a keep and rule some land? Do you want to protect your village from every threat under the sun and under the earth?) What do you want your character to achieve?(Is it enough to be able to cast fireball, do you want to achieve notoriety in an area, is your primary goal to achive acceptance into a particular organisation?) Game Mechanics Do you want your character to take Prestige Classes in the future? If yes, do you need an "role-play" reason for that? Whisper knife, IB, Master thrower. They all make sense for him, whisperknife because he spends much of his time exacting revenge. IB because of his renown and focus on being a dagger fighter. Master thrower because one of his main modes of attack is to throw the daggers at people. Does your DM require a specific training to take a Prestige Class? Sometimes. For your character, is progressing in a Prestige Class a long term goal, or is it only a mean for higher goals? "I always wanted to be an Eldritch Knight!" vs "I hate deities, but the power they give is cool. Oh, I just learned that an Ur-Priest could steal spells from deities! Interesting..." Is there a chain of feats you want to take (like whirlind attack)? If yes, is it a long-term goal your character wants to reach? Or does each feat is chosen one at a time? Those related to throwing daggers. |
