| _Bolshack_Dragon_03-04-05, 09:49 PM | Ok, I am trying a completely new stratagie. Just recently my Favored Soul died in an etempt to assassinate an Evil Priest in order to join a guild. But now I started over as a Fighter/Champion of Corellon Larethian. So basically I am a tank, an all out melee maniac. The thing is I am new to the stratagie. Sure I did like using melee as a Favored Soul, but if things got tough, I always had my spells to turn to. Now I have no spells. What do you think I should do? How should I try to develope my character enough to kick butt and not have to start to worry like a mom does when her child is going to school for the first time? |

Use them. There are four main routes you can go with a melee fighter. Each have strenghts and weaknesses. 1) Two-handed weapons. This is great for the max damage people. Take ye olde greatsword, and bring ye mighty blade down upon the head of thine enemies. Also works great for ripping other people's gear to shreds. Recommended feats would be Power Attack, Cleave, and Great Cleave, Improved Sunder 2) Two-weapon fighting. Dual wielding means you do less damage per attack, but you get more attacks. Recommended feats would be the entire Two-Weapon Fighting tree, and the Spring attack tree. 3) Sword and shield. Ok, so not necessarily a sword, but you get the idea. This is a good, standard fighter build. Do less damage than THF, have less attacks than TWF, but you have a higher AC. Recommended feats would be Improved Shield Bash, Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave 4) Reach weapon. Go on the Character Optimization boards and ask about the benefits of the Spiked Chain or the whip-dagger from the AEG. You get to take AoOs on people before they even get a chance to attack you. Plus, you can threaten a larger area (good for screwing up spellcasters), and you can make trip attacks without provoking AoOs. Recommended feats would be Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Spiked Chain or Whips), Improved Trip, Combat Reflexes |
