I hope this is the right thread. I'm new to rp. I'm playing a WF Artificer who is less than 3 years old.. created after the war... and turned loose to see how she would do. She was found by a female artificer who lived on a farm who trained her for a couple of years before she got killed and the wf is on the road now and has joined up with other characters in an adventuring party for a mission in order to gain some funding.

My problem is trying to figure out how the warforged might talk. She would not be using the militaristic terms in the Ebarron books because she was never in the military. I'm trying to figure out the way she would state things that would make her unique and I know that means she would have to rely on the artificer side of things but being brand new to rp and d&d I'm not quite sure of the phrases and stuff they might use. This character has no deity affiliation either.

I see the clerics posting about blessing people and the land and curing wounds and I have been in a couple battles and used the morningstar as well as magic stones and then infused the morningstar with fire for the last battle but I need to work on the vocabulary now and I'd appreciate any comments or if this is addresses somewhere else I would appreciate someone telling me where I might look.

I've done well so far in our group and gotten good experience points but this area I need to develop and I'm being told that basically anything goes because of the fact she's one of the new warforged so no one really knows what they might do and since almost all of her time has been spent with the female artificer she probably would have picked up stuff from her such as mannerisms or sayings or ways of doing things.

I'd appreciate any comments. I really want to learn this and just have never seen this anywhere before and don't know anything about it so I'm trying to learn it as quickly as I can.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

A good (if cheesy) source for mannerisms for a newly created sentient would be the film "Short Circuit". So many themes parallel a Warforged's first few years of life.
Also, to reflect the Artificer nature of the character, try to think of social interaction in crafting or making terms:
- people become 'damaged' when injured
- people who act strangely 'malfunction'
- people are 'broken' instead of dead

- when using magic items, you use a "device"
- When healing someone with a wand of cure or something, you "repair" the guy
- Reading a scroll / book : reading "data"

She could be almost mute, talking only when something has to do with her work, like "repairing" someone, using an infusion, etc....
