I'm working on a char who is supposed to start at level 2, multiclassed barbarian/wizard. After coming into play, he will advance as a wizard. Maybe as some prestige class but always so he gets his arcane spell levels. He is supposed to grow and mature over time, maybe even changing his alignment all the way up to Neutral Good.

Right now, however, he's kinda confused.
Did someone say that a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing?

*He consider himself a simple hunter and lumberjack. Sure he has picked up a few tricks from a druid, but that certainly doesn't make him a druid - and most certainly not a wizard. (The "druid" had the social position of druid, but was technically a multiclassed druid/wizard.)

*He consider himself to be a man, althought he was technically born female and havn't had any permanent "polymorph any object" cast on him yet. In the vocabulary of our world, he's a female to male transsexual. So far he uses either "Disguise self" or some houseruled "minor alter self", and will soon upgrade to the real "Alter self".

*He consider himself to be Neutral. He believe in the teachings of the local druids of his home village, and tries to uphold Balance. He respect and tolerate all alignments, and is ready to show this by participating in the religious ceremonies of other faiths. He do not yet know that he registers as Neutral Evil if detect alignment spells are cast on him. If he knew, it would confuse him slightly. Sure, he do comitt evil acts. But he comitt good acts too, trying to uphold that pesky Balance. Sure he has participated in some ritual sacrifices of innocents and so on, but he has given to charity, too! It ought to even out, or so he thinks.

(His home village makes huge profits from staying conviniently "neutral" and trade with all kinds of monsters, brigands and so on, as long as they don't attack the people of the village.)

I plan to play him in a dominantly Good group. He will be enthusiastic about the Good Cause, but try to do a bit of heinous deeds here and there to protect himself from becoming a "goodness extremist", and he might try to persuade his groupmates to do the same thing. Eventually, I expect them to win him over, making him abandon his flawed concepts of "Neutrality", "Balance", "Tolerance" and "Respect". Of course, he might also come to embrace evil for real.

Btw, this guy will have very high intelligence and very low wisdom. Maybe starting with 17 int and 6 wis or so.

Thoughts? Comments? Advice?

Class advancement is Rage Mage in the mini's handbook

RP problems, if the paladin in the group (if there is one) or anywhere else detects on him they won't go "Oh, he is evil, well be on your way." So I wouldn't play him as technically evil, chaotic neutral would work better. You wouldn't register as evil, but can play on either side of the alignment scale and stay in alignment :D

One other problem is that early on you will have a very difficult time keeping up with the group, you will have ok hp (Average's out to D8's), so you better grab a bow to be safe.

I guess the rest of it is alright, except the other players might look at you weird if they ever find out (Proabably will happen) that you're playing a transsexual.

This is certainly a risk that we'll have to watch out for.

We will have to integrate the group so it have reasons to stick together. For good characters, one reason to keep my char is the hope that he will be redeemable.

Nah, that would be the cheap way out. :)

With reasonably high constitution, I think I'll have enough hitpoints for close combat until I become high enough level to start casting fireballs.

I think of it this way: If the group isn't mature enough to handle transexualism, they are not mature enough to handle the rest of my char either. ;)

But yes, this char really need to pe played in the right group. In a group where he doesn't fit, he would be either boring or a total disaster.
