| Morka01-10-06, 02:07 PM | 1st - Read the Dark Elf Trilogy. In short, the Matron Mother is leading and has the own the death and life of everyone in her house. But priestesses are valuable, and an house with 8 priestesses is very powerful, that's why the Matron Mother will avoid to kill one of her daughter (unless she has an evidence that her daughter is attempting to kill her). Then, the daughters are very powerful. They also own the death and life of everyone in the house, at least anyone who's not protected by the Matron Mother or one of her elder sister. Then the sons are very powerful. At least, the two first sons, since the third is always sacrified to Lolth. They own the death and life of every male in the house. The goal of any priestess is to become Matron Mother, so she should always be plotting against an elder sister or the current Matron Mother. In the same time, the goal of a specific house is to get an higher rank (ideally, the 1st rank), and it works better if everyon in the house are working together. It's paradoxal, but that's why the drows are Chaotic Evil. So you are the 3rd daughter, and a priestess of Lolth. Then the Matron Mother and your two elder sisters have the right to treat you almost as a slave, even if they respect you. But you have the right to treat your brothers and any other member of the house as a slave. Kicking someone while they're down and torturing the prisonners is common; you don't have to be "good" to not like it, perhaps is it just "beyond you". With all that, it's hard to come up with something "unique." A drow priestess is all that. A good quirk for an evil character could be to have a creature to love. As a priestess, it can be the soldier who's currently your consort, it could be a wooly spider, a rat or a bat acting as your familiar, it could be a kobold slave, or perhaps an elder or younger sister. That shouldn't prevent you to be cruel with everyone else. Forcing a non-evil slave to commit evil could be great to. Also, you could be a zealot of Lolth, or in the reverse be extremely down to earth. You could prefer to rely on your magic, or prefer to use brute strength. You could love to use undeads or hate it. You could be fascinated by death. Finally, check the 1001 Character Quirks in my sig for 1001 other Quirks. |
| Sluagh01-10-06, 03:19 PM | Take a read through the first post of this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=534402) thread. It's a long post, but very informative. I would suggest upping your age a bit, even if you're not a highpriestess, the training that the females go through is QUITE long, plus it takes a while before they're allowed to enter the academy. Playing Drow (well) is complicated. Good luck. |
