yeah well im 13 and my name is joe, but i dont have a name for my PC

im making a lvl 1 Dwarven Fighter and all of my PC sheet is filled out except for skills and everything on the bottom left, from saving throws down. i dont know if i was supposed to but in my modifier i added age penalties and bonuses.

Str- 16 -1
dex- 12 -1
con- 17 +1
int- 13 +1
wis- 11 +1
cha- 11 -1

All stats include bonus/penalty

med size
119 Y.O
4.7 height
230 lbs
neutral alignment

has heavy wooden shield, dwarven waraxe, scale mail, short bow, 20 arrows, backpack, flint and steel, 1 days ration, 2 waterskins, 1 bedroll, 1 hammer, 110 ft of rope.
I didnt put all of my penalties in for weight cuz i dont know how.
Idont know how to determine HP and AC, and basically the whole first page.
I wasnt sure about feats so i did power attack and weapon focus (dwarven Waraxe)

Thanks

oh yeah and after the 20 arrows i dont know the weight or price or anything like that.

Hi lylac,

The DnD website has a random name generator, you can access it by selecting tools on the left hand side of the home page. There is a list of Dwarf names in the players handbook on page 14. This should get you started on a name for your character.

First of all, your ability modifiers aren't what you posted. They should be:

STR- 16 (+3)
DEX- 12 (+1)
CON- 17 (+3)
INT- 13 (+1)
WIS- 11 (0)
CHA- 11 (0)

Given this, your HP is 13. Unless your DM has you roll HP, then roll 1d10 and add three, giving you an HP range from 4 to 13.

Now, let me see. You have a good pair of feats, Power Attack and Weapon Focus (Dwarven Waraxe).

In the equipment chapter, find the values for your shield and Scale mail. Add the ARMOR BONUS and SHIELD BONUS values, add your Dexterity Modifier (1) and add 10. That's your AC.
Unless Scale Mail has a Max Dex Bonus of 0 (And I doubt it), that should be all you need to do to it.

Your equipment can be weighed in by looking it all up in the Equipment Chapter of the Players Handbook.

And I suggest getting more rations, unless you have a ranger in your party who is feeding you guys for you.

EDIT: By the way. A name is easy. There's a lot of name generators, and any thick german-sounding name you invent will work too.

First off, welcome aboard!

Do you have a Player's Handbook? You've got the hardest parts done already; the rest can be just looked up in the PHB. Really, the best thing would be to talk to your DM (or somebody you know who's been playing for a while; maybe your local hobbyshop owner?). If that doesn't work, I've always been a big fan of this post:

Go down until you see a long post made by a guy named Tyler O'Durden. He does a great job of explaining the character sheet.

In the future, this probably isn't the best place to post for help. This area is for making your characater's story, not filling out it's stats.

Karish,

I think what Lylac was trying to show us with his ability scores were the net totals of the adjusted scores due to his racial modifiers and the age penalties.

Lylac,

What Karish is showing you is the actual bonuses and penalties that your ability scores provide when you factor in ability modifiers to your dice rolls. So don't worry, you're still doing everything right!

Yeah, I just noticed that. XD
He is doing things right, now that I see it. I got the wording messed up in my head.

Hi lylac,

Once you have a name for your character and have worked out the basic appearance (colour of skin, hair, eyes, weight, height, gender), you can work on a background story. The players handbook II has a chapter on building your identity (page 129), this may help you. Your DM might have a copy of this book if you do not. This chapter has basic story lines you can use or modify. There is also a section on personality archetypes and traits. You are starting out so you do not have to be original.

Your Dwarven Fighter could be: a soldier who serves a lord, a drifter looking for a purpose in life, farm hand looking for excitement, Gladiator who has won freedom from slavery or just a sword for hire. It is up to you.
