| mypetrock08-13-07, 11:49 PM | We're playing an Eberron game. My character is Cyric, a changeling rogue [social skill monkey] formerly of Cyre (not that that matters much to him). He's completely amoral and delights in changing his appearance and bluffing his way through life. He's intelligent (17) and charismatic (15) but not particularly wise (6) or attentive (Spot/Listen -6). He's been known to dash forward into combat and then wake up a few rounds better when the cleric is finished healing the latest beating. He's heard of the Chameleons, an organization devoted investigating the mutability of identity. He's hoping to make enough of a name for himself to be invited for membership. He's recently acquired an item familiar in a Hat of Disguise. In the mean time, there is the question of what to do now. OOC, I'm considering taking a level in Swashbuckler to help my melee ability. Scout might also help and get me trapfinding, but it doesn't make my already weak melee build any better. Neither does Beguiler, but it gets me trapfinding and supports the character's goals of deceit and subterfuge. Additional levels of rogue don't seem to get me where I want to get to except for all of the juicy skills. Advice welcome. mypetrock |

Although you might have better luck with this at the character Optimization board (which is right here: http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=339). What to do next is a bit up to your party and the goals of the chameleon organisation. Whatever your party is going to do next, try to steer them in some sort of stealth approach (which gives you the chance to show what you're worth). Also think about what this chameleon organisation is trying to accomplish. I'm not familiar with it, but if it's a good aligned organisation, you might want to put an end to some injustice (by using your specific abilities). If it's an evil organisation, you might want to do the opposite of the above. If you're sick of waiting for an invitation, you could consider to infiltrate the chameleons yourself and drop your buissiness card there unnoticed. Though I'm not sure how this will fit in a party game. Perhaps you could ask your DM for a solo-adventure where you're trying to accomplish the latter of these suggestions. Hope this helps, cheers |
