| TheraerTheWanderingBard07-09-05, 07:12 PM | Ok...in an upcoming campaign im going to be playing a Gnome Ranger/Bloodhound. we are starting 5th lvl but that is irrelavent(ranger4/bloodhound1) Ok...the backround for the campaign is: The story is based in a coastal city called Isenbrook (name pending). In this city there is a very kind, just, and fair king. However the city is at war with one of its surrounding nations, ever since it invaded Isenbrook's borders. The city is now recruiting members to join their military ranks to fend off the foreign invaders. However, within Isenbrook, there is a small group of rebels who wish to overthrow the benevolent king and rule Isenbrook with an iron first. They have been Kidnapping people and forcing them to join, often using powerful magics. They are known only as "The order of the crimson blade". You have been recruited into the Isenbrook military, and have shown excellent natural skill in the training camp. You and a select few have been placed into a specail taskforce division, meant to do more important jobs then securing the front lines. I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas/suggestions for his backround, what his personality is like, and maybe some quirks that he has. |

The city background will make wilderness suvival weakpoint for your character. Coastal area might suggest a few ranks in profession (sailor) or profession (dock hand). Either should grant you a circumstance bonus when dealing with people around the docks and another bonus for search and spot checks in waterfront areas. Of course the further in-land you go, the more you will feel out of sorts. The absence of salt water smells will disturb you. Pork, beef and chicken will be a luxury back home (or something you distrust) while freshwater fish will taste like dirt (farm raised fish are in concrete tanks and have little exposure to traditional enviroments). Do you have the gnome ablitiy to talk to burrowing animals? It might scare you the first time a badger says, "Hi!" Of course, you herd stories of your great uncle Rosco gabbering away with a ferret (but you thought that was just too much booze, or your grandpa pulling your leg). |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard07-10-05, 08:19 AM | nice ideas...but i dont have the skill points to put any ranks in Proffession(sailor). I chose Archer as my combat style, but most of my other feats are Two Weapon Fighting ones. And the DM said that most of the campaign will be outdoors, so wilderness isnt a problem to me....and the backround of the campaign never said that I lived in the city...just that i was recruited by its government. |

| Steel Cobra07-10-05, 10:38 AM | although I would go for the 2 weapon fighting but I like close range anywho I am running a campeign simmilar to this execpt its warcraft setting and well no rangers I would say for your DM to buy the Heros of Battle and stage a couple of monstrous fight senes |
