thom2075 08-14-05, 03:58 AM	I just brought a new character into a Maztica campaign, Paladin of Torm, and he's been sent here to keep an eye on the Helmites and ensure they've enacted some reforms to their treatment of the natives (or assess how bad said treatment is). There are a few other character driven plotlines, but that's his main objective. He's a mounted combat build, and his backstory is that he's been in the saddle as a military campaigner his whole life, riding with the Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr, the Argent Legion, almost any military unit West of the Moonsea and North of Amn. He was a sqire from age 10, and he's spent 17 years in the field at this point, with the last seven as a roaming knight, sent to aid whatever conflict the Church feels could use a boost. He is one of the orphans of Tantras from the Time of Troubles, when Torm absorbed his faithful's life force, so the Church has a bit of a soft spot for him. With Torm's edict to repair relations with the Helmites, he has to be extremely diplomatic, but he comes with letters of rank and authority. Basically they present him as an attache' from the Church of Torm. I'm ex-navy, and with his structured military background, I wanted to work up a system of ranks and titles for the Church of Torm. Here's what I have so far: Titles of rank: Lieutenant = Knight of Torm Captain = Shield Knight of Torm Major = Knight Vigilant of Torm Colonel = Knight Sentinel of Torm General = Knight Steward of Torm Titles of Position Free range paladin = Knight Errant Structured unit member = True Knight Attache' = Knight Consul Regional Commander = Knight Steward Grand Marshal = Knight Servitor (informally Lion of Torm) I'm not 100% happy with them, any input would be appreciated. Is anything like this covered in the sourcebooks? I'd like some colorful names for the enlisted ranks, but for some reason those are a lot harder. I'd also like to do the same with the structure of the Helmites, but I'm burned out tonight, so any help there would be nice, too. Thanks in advance! *EDIT* Rolled a one on my typing check.
braindead345 08-15-05, 01:57 AM	Try "Champion of Torm" in place of the "Knight Servitor". Others to try: Hero of Torm, Right Hand of Torm, Defender of the Rightous, and Servant of Torm (for one of the lower ranks).
