Ever since I first read the description of Wee Jas I have had the idea of a dark hero dedicated to this deity. A character struggling with anger, a penchant for violence, and an affinity for undead who nevertheless fought on the side of good.

Since it is theoretically possible to have a LG worshipper of Wee Jas, I assume it is both possible and permissable by the clergy of the Ruby Sorceress to have a paladin dedicated to her worship.

What do you imagine such a character to be like? I am playing with ideas like Paladin/Knight and Fallen Paladin/Blackguard, but I am open to all kinds of ideas.

Thanks for your thoughts!

P.S. If there is something in the generally accepted traditions that suggests this is not possible, I would be interested to know details. Thanks!

We had a player in our group run this character and it turned out really well.

The dichotomy between the good and evil members of the Wee Jas organization made for a some good political intrigue in the game. It can really give the DM a lot to work with, and a DM who can see the potential will have a ton of fun with it.

Our DM set it up perfectly--when we went to confront the Big Bad Evil Woman, a cleric of Wee Jas, she turned out to be pregnant with his child. Oh so perfect. His early slip--a trist with a "random" mysterious redhead--comes back to bite all of us in the arse at the end of the campaign.

I believe there is a sect of Wee Jas who is totally anti-undead. There definitely is one in the AoWAP.

If you can, check out the Tome of Battle. You may find the Ruby Vindicator PrC worth looking into. They're basically the church's troubleshooters-- they aren't assassins, but they can be. The sample NPC given for that PrC is a man who guards a necropolis while living on a farm with his family.
