For purposes of racial traits, she is a Gray Elf, though she is actually half-Gray Elf, half-High Elf. Working on fleshing out her background, I have stumbled upon a problem with developing her personality. Gray Elves are supposedly arrogant and aloof even by elven standards, but is this a cultural or racial trait? If she were raised in a High Elf community, would she tend towards the social norms of High Elf culture, or would her Gray Elf blood cause her to instinctivly believe that she is superior to the other elves? Conversly, if she was raised among Gray Elves, would she consider herself as inferior to her peers due to not being of pure Gray Elf lineage? She does have two ability scores that are remarkably high (18 Dex, 19 Int) which may cause her to see herself as superior, but she also has two scores that are very low (6 Str, 6 Con), making her frail and weak, even for an elf, which could possibly give her an inferiority complex. |

In any case, just staying alive would be a constant challenge: diseases and injuries that even a human commoner would fight off might pose a serious threat to this character. With this in mind, being a transmuter seems to be quite reasonable. Transmutation magic might offer the character the ability to correct or overcome his or her physical frailties for a short time, or it might offer the character insight into the nature of forms and physical bodies. In any case, it seems to me that a physical weakness like that would almost certainly have a strong impact on the character's development. Was the character sickly as a child? Did this physical condition appear suddenly, perhaps after the character had reached adulthood? |
