Anyone have ideas about reconciling someone who is both chaotic, but has to inspire troops in battle(teamwork), thoughts about race (which of his parents he sides with), personality traits, background, would be helpful. He's from Aglarond but campaign is in Waterdeep currently, for those of you who have realms experience. |

Since he has a martial bent (he'll eventually be taking the warpriest PrC), perhaps he lived in the elven communities in Yuirwood, and was attached to a defensive unit of archers there before he left. Elven combat styles (especially in defense) also have a much more chaotic inclination, so you wouldn't have much of an issue with that either. Maybe he was part of the military during a Thayvian incursion that sent some troops through the Yuirwood. His unit- a group of early-warning scouts- skirmished with the Thayvians, but was driven back; to escape, he stepped through a portal (there are quite a few in that particular forest) and was stuck half a world away (near Waterdeep). |

He's 8th level (replacing a long-used dead character, which is part of the reason i'm stuck for development ideas) so spell suggestions and tactics (briar web, for example, would be quite useful in the woods but wouldn't transfer too well to the urban/undermountain crawl campaign i'm in). |

Against Thayvian incursions especially, anti-caster protection in the form of protection from elements and other spells would become significantly more important. Basically, if you have your cleric geared towards being a warpriest, you've already got most of the spells that you will most commonly use in mind. Additionally, you can make uncertainty about spell tactics in urban environments part of his personality: he's so used to fighting in the forest that he's unsure that his tactics or spells will do the same thing in his new environment. You might be able to convince your DM to give you the elf weapon proficiencies (or at least longbow proficiency) in exchange for the half-elven bonuses on diplomacy and gather information checks (both are cultural rather than inherent racial traits), since it would fit your character concept rather well. |
