My character has gone through several stages, and i have a small but flawed range of personalities for him. now after afew sessions his switching back and forth seems to be irrating my group.

being the strangest combination, the group consists of me (Drow Vampire Rogue), a ghoul with destructive bursts, an unbelievably passive evil cleric of Nerull and a hot-headed gnoll ranger.

so I have the following ideas, but they need to be finsihed off with a defect or unusual quirk and a suggestion on which one to would most likely fit, for the DM and parties sake.

The shadow

before he was taken by Vampirism, he was the deadly enforcer of the group, making enemies dissapear behind the scenes, although much of what he does was not revealed to the group, he filled a large role by removing some otherwise challenging groups. He inputed Tactics and Dark humor, adding a more sinister side to a brutish group. this created a feeling of the charatcer not pulling his weight among the party, with only the DM knowing the true extent of my help.

lifeless leader

Shortly after Climbing out of his grave, he became much more upfront, claiming the mantle of group leader (in a previously disorganised group), and began using his newly found persuasiveness (sp) to move the group through usually unfriendly areas by a clever use of skills. lighter jokes and cordinating were the main input of this personality, and frequently held the leash of the violent party members. the party was in an uncomfortable truce, but when combat did spur up there was less harm to the party.

Blood Monster

After being captured and having his wisdom sapped, the sofisicated layer dropped to create a juggernaut of paticulary messy battles, dark jokes and open threats. this fed the parties battlelust, but the DM found himself needing to think on his toes, inserting previously uneeded law enforcement and making his job considerbly harder for a session or two. at this point the group was quite high on the most wanted list after carving a bloody path through various respectable figures of the Sessions. this left the group injured, but the enemies more so.

The party reacted well in my opinion to all three personalities, but the ghoul seemed to favor the subtle acts, while the gnoll enjoyed being set loose upon an enemy, the time spent held back seemed to cause some concern and some trechorous whispers. while everyone found it fun to see my character tear apart some foes, I'm not sure wether it as Novelity or a sustainable middleground.

I enjoyed all three apporaches, although I believe that the Blood monster was more a spur of the moment
so which one to settle for? if i keep using all three the group will soon find it infuriating and I can see myself being posed the question "what is up with your character? he's all over the show!"

Keep them.

Chronological Order
1) before he was taken by Vampirism, he was the deadly enforcer of the group, making enemies dissapear behind the scenes
2) [Enter vampirisim]
3) Shortly after Climbing out of his grave, he became much more upfront, claiming the mantle of group leader
4) After...<snip>...the sofisicated layer dropped to create a juggernaut of paticulary messy battles, dark jokes and open threats. this fed the parties battlelust

I'd suggest to "revert" back to the "third stage" and become a leader, after all vampires are known to be leaders and you can create spawn to serve you if desired, being a sophisticate is always interesting.
