OK...I'm in a PBEM, and I think my noble sorceress Kylie is not long for this world. (Nasty encounter with a baron who turned out to be immune to a wand of fireballs).

Soooo...since the PBEM is at about 6th-7th level, that's the level I'm looking at for a new character. I've got several ideas going, but I want to narrow them before I submit to the DM. Thought I'd get feedback from you guys on what's most interesting before submitting ideas to the DM.

Keep in mind that in this campaign world, sorcerers face lotsa persecution for their heritage.

My ideas, in no particular order:

Grimthar Oloddrin, Dwarven Cleric
A servant of the Spirit of Good, Grimthar is a combination of an exemplar and a proselytizer. He tries to embody the precepts of Good (always with a capital G!) and teach people to listen to the inner spirit of good within them. His greatest flaw is his mercy -- he will try to turn people from the path of evil or bring the light of Good into their lives whenever he perceives they need it.

Sir Beric the Reaper, human Noble/Fighter
When a long-simmering feud between Sir Beric's family and a neighboring family came to a head, leading the family's troops into battle fell to Beric. Taking his responsibility seriously, he invaded the other family's keep. Under his supervision, all the men, women and children of the opposing family were slain, save one -- a three-year-old girl. With this girl now betrothed to his own youngest brother, Sir Beric has sworn off the world of noble feuds, taking up the life of a freelance knight.

Antaeus, half-elven wizard
The son of a prominent vintner, Antaeus embraced the magical arts at an early age, apprenticing with a famous archmage. Polite to a fault, yet slightly condescending, Antaeus is far more comfortable in the velvets of court than in the harsh confines of the adventuring road ... yet he is drawn to it nonetheless.

Perdindon, human fighter/cleric
Two gods govern war in this world. One god rules civilized war -- the conflicts fought by knights and nobles. The other, a more savage god, rules the heavens and the fires in the hearts of men. Before a key battle, Perdindon's unit prayed to the civilized god ... but in his heart, Perdindon prayed to the ancient storm god. As battle approached, Perdindon's side looked about to lose. But, suddenly, a great storm arose. As the rain washed away the advancing orc hordes, Perdindon saw a giant of a man standing atop a peak, silhouetted against the lightning. Later, Perdindon sought the temple of this ancient storm god, and has been sent forth to find war, wherever it might be, and to evoke it in the hearts of men.

Chester Oddwallow, halfling evoker
As an apprentice, Chester became as familiar with the natural world as he was with the arcane. Often trailing his master, this young halfling learned the names of functions of multiple herbs as well as the secret words that command forces of fire and thunder. Almost paralytically shy, Chester finds himself most at peace when in the wilderness, where he can contemplate the beauty of the world in silence.

Which of these appeals the most?

I'd go with the cleric.... he sounds pretty cool. I like the idea of the cleric converting to the pseudo-pagan god of war....

I've got a few ideas about how to play that cleric. Who knows? Maybe he'd qualify for the Warpriest prestige class eventually.

I'm trying to figure a way to model a "war sense" in the rules -- basically, he receives supernatural visions, dreams, or hunches that lead him to a place where war is imminent.

His domains, of course, would be War and Air.

Having a predisposition for wizards, I'll look at those. Although I like Antaus, there doesn't seem to be anything special about him except for excessive politeness. I'd say go with Chester.

Sir Beric appeals to me too.
