Can anyone point me to some informative threads about incantatrix? Roleplaying statergies on playing one and Optimizing? With so many metamagic feats Looks like it gets kind of confusing. Also on their spell focus ability when you lose a school of magic do you gain extra spells like a specialist? It doesnt really explain. Anyway I am looking at wizard 5/ Int3 ECL 9 right now what are the best feats equipment to build one. Oh the race will be a Skarakim* (spelling) from the CV. All books are availible execept BoVD and BoED, UA and psion. Any help will be much appreciated. thanks

I assume you're talking about the 3.5 Incantatrix. You do not get the benefits of specialization, it's a focus of study on metamagic that makes you more limited in the range of spells you cast.

I don't know what CV is or the race you speek of, but I usually try to avoid any kind of ECL with a caster. Even just one level lost is a big trade. I'd recommend either Sun Elf or Human.

Here are some nice feats for Incantatrix
Skill Focus (Spellcraft +3) is good for class abilities and also a pre-req for ArchMage
Iron Will (prereq for Int)
Extend Spell
Persistant Spell (just sick when combined with Metamagic Effect & a high Spellcraft)
Empower Spell
Explosive Spell
Widen Spell
Split Ray or Twin Spell (depending on if you cast a lot of rays)
Quicken Spell (perfect for Instant Metamagic)

Edit:
I forgot I was in the Character Developement section. As far as role-playing goes, an Incantatrix should be the bane of summoned creatures. You should despise such actions and make it your first priority to rectify. The material plane has enough issues as it is without bringing in "help" from elsewhere. The influence of outsiders can be seen everywhere, and rarely is it of any benefit to the inhabitants of this plane. A neutral Incantatrix would view any extraplanar interferance as questionable. They all have their own agendas in mind when they help. A good, evil, lawful or chaotic one would tend to distrust opposing alignments more, but still question any interferance.

The Incantatrix came from books years ago, although I don't know the names. There would be some nice story-bulding elements in those books if you could find them.

One last note, if you are a male wizard, you might want to call yourself an Incantatar not an Incantatrix.

I dont' have a lot of advice, so I'll toss out my own incantrix concept and hope that it helps a little.

My incantrix is essentially a sorceress who was the decendent of a paladin and an evil being. As such she has two powerful needs. One need is to make the world better, which comes from her paldin side. From her evil side, she has a more or less infinite lust for crushing people's spirits ( the stronger he better).
One day, she discovered the perfect union of her two needs, Demon hunting. Demons are "people" and usually have strong wills for her to break. Hunting demons, torturing, and finally killing or bamnishing them lets her satisfy her darkest lusts in a very powerful way without actually harming innocents. As for the metamagic tricks? She pickd them u to beter hunt her "Quary." ( well that and the fact that beneath it all she has a strong desire for power.
Nedless to say, she's a dark, tragic sort of person. All in all, I rather like her. Hope that helps
